Today LakeOntarioUnited is proud to announce its partnership with the world’s largest online fishing derby – BountyFishing.com. Founded in January 2007, BountyFishing gives anglers the opportunity to compete throughout the year against other anglers from across the continent.

The Lake Ontario Pro-Am Salmon Team Tournament Trolling Circuit – located in Niagara, Oswego, Orleans and Wayne counties. The format for the tournament is a team event based on ten points per fish and one point per pound over two days of fishing. The highest point total is the winner.

Well with the warmer temps we are having the fish will be moving off to their summer locations fairly soon. Summer Brown Trout fishing can be excellent here off Rochester so I will post a little insight on locating those summer browns.

Trolling, by my definition, is simply a technique used to propel your offering by some means other than casting and retrieving. Part one of a three part series touches upon the basics of trolling including location, depth, speed and repetition. In parts two and three will get a bit more detailed on the equipment and techniques.

In Part 1 we described the basic equipment for the boat and terminal tackle. Part 2 touched base on lure selection, size and colors. Part 3 is on putting everything together to maximize your chances of putting the fish in the boat.

Now that the boat is set up for spring, your rod and reels are relined, terminal gear is all in order, as per part 1 on spring browns: Let’s go shopping for the tackle to get these spring time treasures into the boat. There are two lure styles that stand out from April till mid may, stickbaits and spoons. Size does matter!
