More to waterfowl hunting than shooting birds.

Recommended Posts

I was up early this morning to scout out a duck pond. Spent about 45 minutes watching the marsh come alive. Those that share my passion know it's far more involved than the number of birds one bags. I had a great, relaxing morning and even saw a few birds.  Still haven't decided if I'll hunt here once the season opens.

As I sat in my deer stand this morning, seeing nothing, I couldn't help but smile as I listened to numerous mallards chatting back and forth all morning on the marsh on our lease. Its new land to us this year and while I had my bow in my hand all I could think about as getting the shotgun back out next weekend. Can't wait......

I am having a difficult time getting motivated to sit in a tree stand in this type of weather. I think I'l be spending time in my boat this week and continue to catch fish and chase ducks this weekend.. My brother is arriving tomorrow for a week of hunting and fishing. We will be after pheasants, grouse, woodcock, and ducks and probably hit the walleyes on the river. If the salmon ever show up we may hit a trib. with the fly rods as well.  If it cools off I may even sit a couple watches in a tree stand. I love this time of year! Ultimate in cast and blast.
