bait in watkins area?

Recommended Posts

There is a new bait store in the Watkins area. I don't know exactly where it is, but my girlfriend works in the county clerks office and told me a fella filed a DBA to open a bait store. He isn't in town and I don't know the name of the road or hill that he is on, but its off 224, just before you start up the hill. There is a road to the left going up the hill. He is up that road some where, I just don't quite know where. I believe there is a sign at the bottom of the hill. There is also a new bait store on rt 14. The store used to sell "chimineas" and I just noticed a new sign on the building the other day that said "Bait". Not sure what he has, but there the only 2 I know of.

If you are coming from Corning, there is McIntyre bait in Beaver dams on Rt.414 about 7 miles out of Corning. The bait shop on Rt.14 in Montour I haven't seen open and drive by there a lot. If you are coming from Penn Yan there is Beverage Baron behind the Best Western Motel on the corner of Rt.14A and Rt. 54.If you are looking for the LARGEST Tackle Shop in Yates country ,there is Fishy Business on the Bluff by the Keuka Lake State Park. He is open during the winter too but better call  to make sure he is there.

a shop just opened last year on rt.14 just south of Montour, and there was one on skyline above watkins, but I don't know what type of selections they have. I usually go to hills and valleys in southport they have a good selection and are very reliable just a bit out of the way.

There's a shop south of Montour by old red barn hole.

Jason the guy you're talking about on the hill already closed doors. Sunset bait is what it was.

I was wondering how he would make out. He was a little out of the way

  • 2 weeks later...

Hook, Line & Sinker located in Ithaca is open year around and easily accessible from Watkins. Check out khredemption.com and click link at the top of the page for the bait shop.  They will have bass and perch minnows all winter.  Currently have a good mix of worms including wax, meal, mouses's, oak leaf grubs, nightcrawlers, red worms.  Will have spikes in the next week or so.
