Seneca 5/6/15

Recommended Posts

Mostly a slow morning. An early Northern was a nice surprise. Went through many lures in search of something that would work. Also kept moving riggers, up down up down. Finally rigger releases and its on. Glad I had the drag set to give a little. Line stared pulling out and became a gain some lose some fight. With the line going straight down about 5ft off the back of boat. The leader knot was just out of water. So the fish was 30ft down. I slowly work it up. Just as it gets in site. All hell breaks loose. It screams out more line and disappeared down. Get it back up. We try to net it and it danced right out and took line again. This time it goes for rigger lines. I believe it was between the cable and rods line. Some how got it back out. Had another missed netting. Takes line again. After getting it back again. It took a deep net dive to finally get this beast. All of this was on a 7' light Ugly Stick. Needless to say. The fish had its way with me. But we got it. A beast of a Landlock. 10lbs. 2oz.

As I was first reading the post (before looking at the pic) I was thinking it was going to be a big brown because the landlocks are usually air born early sometimes even before you realize they have hit something of yours but big fish often do different things and that one sure is a beauty  That pike isn't too shabby either :)

Oh I mean the simple rapala silver black stick.:lol:

that would be a tough decision on mounting or not for me.

I didnt get that one?... What was that suppose to mean? "Bobby, Jason" Was that referring to me? I'm confused by that...

Nice fish though! I'd probably mount it because the best way to get a 12 lb landlock is to mount a 10 lb one.

Twice, I tried to quote it, but go back and read it, cause I can't seem to get it to post.

I think what nauti is saying is that it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time instead of it having to do with lure... Normally I would agree with that but there's a spoon that has done very well for me for many years for pig landlocks this particular time of year and water temp.... I might have accidentally slipped up and told Brent... Never the less AWESOME fish Brent AWESOME job .. Keep it up you've come a long way in a few short seasons... Would love to see you in some of our club tournaments ...
