Canadice Lake

Recommended Posts

Nice fish, congrats. Is that a classic wooden boat your in? I'd like to see some pics. of it. Are there new/better launches at Canadice & Hemlock lakes now? Are the 16' boat or less & the 10 hp rules still in effect on these lakes? Thanks.

Nice , my father had a 16' Lyman 35hp from the 60's. Love the old wooden classics.

Actually the restriction on the DEC website is:

Boats are allowed, but must be less than 17 feet in length, and any motors must be 10 h.p. or less. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water.

Boats may not exceed 17 feet in length and motors may not exceed 10 h.p. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water. See Hemlock-Canadice State Forest for further details.

Does this mean if you go by the second statement that a 17 foot boat is legal?  You can make the argument as long as it does "not exceed 17 feet in length ".  You can make the argument but then with a 10 hp motor why would you have a 17 footer?

Yes tbulhead a 17 foot boat is legal. You could use a 17' boat with no motor or even a 10 HP motor - just no bigger on either length or HP. Its great!

If you are talking without a motor is states this on the website:

A non-mechanically propelled vessel must be less than 24 feet in length. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water.

Not that people launch sailboats, but can you?
