Seneca 2-2

Recommended Posts

They are usually not actively hitting when down real deep like that in my experience (numerous attempts in the 250 -300 ft range in the past when marking large fish down there) using wire thermocline rigs with heavy weights. I too am now jealous after seeing that pic

So the only fish of the day hit while we were pulling up and calling it quits. It hit a mt. Dew sd , and some sort of greenish fly on the wire rod. Dipsey was on a 2 setting out 350'. It hit hard and pulled drag. Love the way the fight this time of year...

Was that a mag dipsy? That has been my winter Laker go to. 300' out wire rod, spinny with a longer than usual lead. Once in a while I would mark one down 120' and they would usually cooperate. I found a blue UV fly seemed to work best that deep. One Laker we caught Sunday on Cayuga fought like a six pound salmon. Also these fish were super dark orange and one Laker had a big sculpin in its belly. Sure is great getting out this time of year. Maybe I'll try Seneca next... nah I'm going to Cayuga I wanna catch something
