Getting back into trolling the finger lakes

Recommended Posts

Looking to get back into fishing the finger lakes I use to fish Seneca a couple years ago and use to do really good but I'm looking to fish Cayuga this year. Any info would be great. I'm looking to target browns, bows, and landlocks. Lakers are just a bonus fish for me I'm looking for something a little different thanks and I'm hoping the weather holds and I will make my first trip up this weekend

I'm fishing tomorrow, will give detailed report from the lake LIVE (or perhaps from the Lucky Hare in Hector shortly after hauling out). We will start at Myers like last week, sticking to the middle heading N and if the middle is cold we'll work T-Falls, AES/Atwater, Sheldrake, etc. I need some lakers to smoke but usually get enough on the diver rods so the bulk of the spread will be set for LLs,Bows, etc.

The braid will work fine-don't sweat it at all. If it's a reg large diver put it on 1.5 and let em out 210 and 250 and let the fish do the math from there. hint: you'll probably have to let the shallow one and maybe the deep one too out a bit- just run MTn dew or green spinny's or protroll flasher /fly combos on em

Sadly I have to work. But I will keep you in mind we might meet up someday but I should do ok with spoons and stick baits just to get the hang of it again. This might sound dumb but I have a ton of crawler harnesses and minnow harnesses what the chances be of a brown or bow chasing down a worm or minnow does anyone troll something like that ?

This past Monday we ran #1 Dipsey's with flasher/fly combos and we also played with Michigan stinger spoons with 8 foot florocarbon leads off the Dipsey's. The spoons worked very well. Ran Dipsey's on #2 setting 175 to 275 and caught quite a few rainbows and LL salmon. Hope this helps.

Yup deadly run at the right speed but sometimes they just want a faster spoon or FF. Great combo running a Sutton and quick fish at 1.5 to 1.8 sog, just tough for me to slow down that much to catch a small Laker if they wanna bite I like to make em chase it...
