Kicker motor question

I have a 24' walk around and was wondering what size kicker I would need to move it at appropriate trolling speed?

I have my eye on a 2010 Merc 8hp 4 stroke just want to make sure that will be enough to move my boat

I have a 22' islander with a 9.9 2 stroke and it'll push the boat about 4mph wide open

I would go with a 15 hp or a 9.9 hi-thrust

I had a 23' fiberglass with a 15hp, worked great especially when the conditions weren't perfect and you need more thrust. My boat weighed 4K empty. I think the 8 would not deliver in a head wind

I got a 15 on my 21' crestliner about 8 mph down to what ever speed you need don't think I would ever go smaller

I have a 9.9 on my 25 Walk and an 8 on my 17 Lund. The 9.9 trolls fine on the 25. When I update that motor I'll likely go bigger to get more amps from the alternator. The 9.9 doesn't keep up when running all my electronics so I have to run a trickle charger between trips. If I had a 15 I think it might keep battery charged.

I have a 9.9 2 Johnson 2  stroke on my Grady wide open it will go 6.5mph wide open.  I had a 6 hp merc 2 stroke and it would only go 4.5mph wide open.  Boat is probably about 3000lbs with the big engine.  if the price is right, he 8hp might work, just don't expect too much. a buddy runs a 8hp merc 4stroke on a 25ft and I think his goes 3mph wide open.  hope that helps man.
