  1. I was on the river last weekend. I would say its down at least 2 feet. We had to change where we launched. You can see it on the rocks where the water normally is.
  2. Sorry for you loss. Lost my father and fishing companion of 50 years 2 years ago. Always remember that you are still fishing because of him. He will always be there with you. Tight lines and calm seas.
  3. Staying in treasure island but charter was out of Saint Petersburg is where the charter was out of.
  4. Went out on a last minute charter and checked off 5 new fish. Was a blast fishing off the beach and in the canals. Added Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Snook, and red fish. Had a great time. Reel Pro charted was the ticket.
  5. is the Killer Instinct 350fps still available?
  6. A while back (10 years) I set up a laptop for someone that wanted the same thing before cellphones were what they are now. I used a usb wireless modem with a booster. Tried it out on the lake about 10 miles out and it worked great. This was out of IBAY and using 3g. most of the USB wireless you can get a booster for.
  7. I have fished before sunrise and after sunset. Glow j-plugs and silver bullet with a rattle worked well. Make sure you have proper lights and look out for other boats coming in to port after a night at the bar. Most people do not expect to see people trolling at night. It is interesting if you get a double on and its pitch black out. Last thing is make sure to give the pier guys their space. You may end up with a 1 oz moonshine hitting your boat. Have fun and good luck.
  8. Staying at the camp site. Bass pike jig Lakers? Any suggestions? Troll jig any ideas? Just looking for dinner.

  10. Thanks for all the kind words. I was able to get out for a bit yesterday and have enough for a tiny fish fry. Will enjoy with some salad from the garden he helped me build. First time on Ontario will be hard but I know he will always be watching. I chose an ugly stick and a Evil Eye to be his combo in heaven. Including obituary below for those that asked. Remember if your not catching fish you mine as well be “lookin’ good”. Hence the name of the boat.
  11. Sunday, I lost my father and best friend. Fred G Giovagnoli. Freddie G, Lookin Good. I had the privilege to fish with him for 49 years. We started in a John boat on Honeyoe and dragged it out by Webster pier as well. Fished Hedges, Webster and the river piers. Got a 16 foot bluefin named Lookin Good. The thousands of hours on the water. The days launching in the bay on sand and ducking under the bridge. Pushing the boat over sandbars in the fall. Old school, Applejack, Nolmois, Hoseman, and all the old guys. Dragging the boat over the ice in-20 degree water to fish Ginna. Combat fishing the river, perch in the Islands, tuna in the outerbanks. The hours and the stories. It can go on for ever. Next time out with the family take a mental picture. It’s well worth it. I am putting some of his ashes in front of shipbuilders. Need to get his boat up and running so I can take mom and sister out. I ask one thing. First trip out every spring. When the cool breeze turns a little warm, The browns are hitting and your one of the only boats out. Raise your coffee mug, or beverage of choice, and give a salute to the old man that was my father and best friend. The laughter will never be forgotten.
  12. I have fished out of the IBAY launch for many years and normally head East to ship builders down to hedges. Since the IBAY launch is hosed and I am fishing out of a smaller boat thinking of heading out of the river. Its not that long of a run but after getting stuck in one of the worst storms a couple years ago I am a little concerned running down to the bay as most storms come in from the West. Is fishing in front of the ponds good this time of year? Is the shoreline between the river and bay decent? I know to look for green water and fish between 7-25 foot pending sun and water color. Just looking for opinions. I hope the launch is open sooner than later. Thanks for any suggestions.
  13. Took a drive today. If the fence was down I could launch. 2 giant CATS in the lot. The river is open but docks are short. Question for those that go out of the river early do you go east or west. I have fished out of the bay for over 40 years but have a small boat. The spring scares me with weather as I almost didn’t make it back only being 1/2. Mile away in a freak storm. If it’s nice I can run down and fish my normal bay to hedges haunts but if I am down that far and weather hits it would be bad. Just looking for general areas. Thanks.
  14. I guess 1 out of three is better than 0. Sad that we have the great body of water yet we cant access from bradocks or Ibay.
  15. I miss the old fixed bridge and sand launch. Yeah it could suck pushing the boat over the sand bar but it was open all the time and free. Yes i am getting old.
