  1. Hi John! My name is Shawn and would be interested in talking about and seeing the property. Thank you for your time. cell# 585-260-2282
  2. I finally cleaned out my garage. 2018 I replaced a 350 mercruiser with a crate motor because of a second cracked head and took off the exhaust manifolds and risers. Last year, I replaced the power assist steering with hydraulic steering. All items are in good to excellent shape. See attached pictures. I am selling: -Exhaust Manifolds-$100each -Risers-$85each -Octopus Type R Autopilot-$650 -Power Steering Cylinder Actuator-$95 -Morse 20ft rack and pinion steering cable.-$65
  3. Ok. No problem. Once you get your drive installed you will be very happy they work great.
  4. Hi Chinook 35, I have a used Octopus type R drive that I took off of my boat last year that I will sell if it fits your boat. The only reason that I removed it from my boat is because I bought a 15hp kicker and have power assist steering on the boat so I switched to hydraulic steering. The drive has only 2 seasons on it for about a total of 120 hours and works perfectly. Feel free to call me with any questions. 585-260-2282( Shawn)
  5. Hi Whaatt! Do.you have a picture? Are they double keel or single. Can I give you my number? Thanks Shawn
  6. Are the otter boats still for sale?
  7. Do the boards have any damage? Why are you selling? Thanks
  8. Hi Justafisherman519. I was going through the posts and came across this one. I understand that you have a 24 ft Thompson that has a kicker. Can I ask how do you steer the boat when the main is off and the kicker running? What type of steering do.you have?

    Thanx

Scooter, I have a steering linkage between the main and the kicker so i just steer with the wheel. The name of it is escaping me right now but they are fairly common. It is just two brackets, one one the main and one on the kicker with an adjustable rod between them. I honestly am thinking about upgrading to an auto pilot or remote unit on just the kicker. I can't fish alone with the way it is and even two people can be tough with any sort of chop when it comes time to net the fish or clear other gear

  10. It's pretty hard. I will look like Popeye before the year is out. The octopus drive can't steer the boat without the power assist.
  11. Can someone give me some suggestions on how I might solve my current problem. I have a 24ft Thompson that has power assist steering. 2 years ago I bought a raymarine ev200 autopilot system with a type r otctopus drive. The system works great. Just last year I decided to buy a kicker to save on engine wear and tear and fuel. The problem that I now have is that with my main off the auto pilot doesnt work it struggles to control because the power assist steering in not working unless the engine is running. Are there any solutions other than changing out the whole steering and auto pilot system? Can i install an electric hydraulic that I can switch to when the engine is off? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Shawn

  13. Hi grayfox! Thank you for your feedback. Do you have the octopus helm with your SiTex autopilot? Thanks Shawn
  14. Hi Rick! Thank you for the feedback. I don't think that the sport pilot is available any longer but if it were that would be my choice. Do you have rack and pinion or rotary steering at the helm? Thanks Shawn
  15. I am currently in the market to put an autopilot on my boat and have a couple of questions. I have rack and pinion / power assist steering on a Merccruiser 5.7L with an Alpha one outdrive. I have been researching for some time now and come to the conclusion that due to cost and ease of implementation the way for me to go is to install a rotary helm(Octopus type-S mechanical helm) along with a compatible autopilot system. I am leaning towards the SiTex SP110RF-3 or the Simrad AP24. 1)Does anyone have any experience with either one of these autopilots or the octopus system? 2)When driving in manual mode(autopilot disengaged) does the Octopus or the auto pilot put extra steering pressure on the wheel? 3) Am I completely out to lunch with my selections? Thank you for any suggestions or information!
