With 2 people it does, gets up to 17 MPH GPS, with more people it does not really plane, Like i said in an earlier post, there was a HP limit on the lake that this boat was used on. Boat could only be used on that lake and no where else due to a special cable that they used that they would remove when you launched and then was reapplied when you you left so if you went in any other body of water and cut the cable yourself, you would have to have boat cleaned, recertified and re cabled by the Mass Dept of Conservation & Research so you would be able to back on that body of water.
