  1. At least its not just me! Sent from my SCH-I510 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. bleh. I've confirmed that I dont know anything about Pike fishing. Ran from 7am to 1pm and hit a total of 2 pike (1 boated, one shook off) and 1 sunny. Tried pretty much every strategy I've read about, light and dark colors, deep/shallow/ledges. Nada. Both pike came off of shallow, 4-5fow, rocky bottom clear of weeds. One on the east side right off mcpherson's point, the other directly across the lake on the west side. It's frustrating! The finder was full of fish, just dont know what they were or what they wanted. help?
  3. Thanks! I'm looking at the Topo map, and I think I see where you mean. I'm also curious about color. From what I understand, considering everything will be overcast and visibility will be poor, I should go with lighter colors. (white jigs, chartruese stickbaits.. etc) This seems opposite from what I know, but is the prevelent strategy I am finding online. Thoughts?
  4. Hey all. Going to try my hand at some pike tomorrow. Kinda new at the pike thing. I mostly catch them when fishing for Bass. Could use some advice. My plan was to be on the water around 7 (could go earlier, not sure?) I know the spawn is over, so I am expecting the pike to be deeper. I was thinking of hitting the bank just north of McPherson pt., dropping some weedless jigs and just working them in slow hops along the drop off. Other than that, I just dont know the lake very well, and Pike barely at all. Any help/suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance Joshua
  5. Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: 6am - noon'ish Weather/Temp: Overcast, 50-60. Wind Speed/Direction: 5 mph, ne to sw Waves: none Surface Temp: 58-64 Location: East sde and around islands =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== We went out on our bass boat around 6am and headed straight to the east side. weeds were pretty thick, but fishable. The bass were ON! I dont know what sparked it, but these babies were agressive as anything I have ever seen. At one point we were landing 1 fish per 2-3 casts. That wasnt even the best part. When these guys hit, they hit HARD and fought like demons. What a great start. At around 8 we hit the islands to give pike a try, but came up blank. We worked the docks around 3 mile fot a bit but it was slow and sporadic. Around 11, we went back to the northeast corner again. We got back into some nice bass again, but nothing like the early morning. We called it around noon. At that point, we are guessing about 20-30 fish apiece, with about half of them weighing over 3 lbs. 99% were caught on white/red bucktails. My shoulders actually ached this morning! After getting nearly skunked for two weeks on Conesus, this was a great way to start June. To think we went with the intention of targeting pike. [ Post made via Android ] [ Post made via Android ]
  6. Name: Joshua O'Campo Location: Newark, NY Home Port: Boat Name/Type: 16' Astro glass bass boat I fish for: Mostly bass but learning new species Hello everyone! Until last year, I have been a 100% bank fisher. Started fishing in Kentucky for bass and cats, but came back here a few years ago and had to relearn everything. Got a boat and now am having to SERIOUSLY relearn everything. Pretty solid on bass (mostly Sodus Bay) and trying to learn eyes, pike and tigers. Grabbed a couple pike Tuesday in Conesus trolling a 3" perch-colored stick at around 2' on the breaks about 200 feet from shore. Nice, but I want more! Anyway, I'll be a daily reader here trying to soak in as much knowledge as possible. Open to any and all advice. Thanks in advance for putting up with me. ================== (your welcome message to LOU - anything else you want to say to the community goes here). [ Post made via Android ]
