  5. What does everyone think about the algae blooms on Cayuga? I've got a vacation scheduled and wanted to bring my dog out in the boat, but we usually use water to cool things off for her. I'm concerned about her safety with the reported algal blooms. Thoughts? I also read that you shouldn't fish or eat fish caught in/near the blooms. What do they consider "near"?

  9. Great name! I have always really liked the 27. Capabilities of a larger platform but a bit more economical to operate. It is getting harder to find 27s in nice condition. GLWS. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  16. Basically "using the right tool for the job". For jigging and still fishing CHIRP can help define things better, standard 50/200 or 83/200 transducers excel in trolling but the match to the unit is critical as is fine tuning things for the particular unit. Not all standard transducers are of the same quality either. The Airmars have a long history of solid performance.

  21. We went out around 5.30 in windy weather and as we left Wrights Landing the first boat had already turned around and came back in. It did not seem very bad and in fact quite normal weather for a Sodus Pro-Am weekend. So out we went. We set up in a hundred foot of water and after about 15 minutes we had our first bruiser. Within an hour and a half the tally was four. The waves however were over 4 foot at that point. So we decided on one more and then go in. We should have known better. 5 minutes after that decision I got a hook embedded in my thumb while trying to clear up some lines. At that point we decided to go back in. On the way back, with the help of a good pair of pliers and a few choice words I got the hook back out and by 8.30 we were back on the dock. We'll try again next week.

  23. Thanks Brother, Lots of good info there. Greatly appreciated! would you feel safe w/ 6lb test w/ appropriate rod (e.g Salmon / Steelhead rod) & good smooth drag? Thanks again, now I feel like I have a place to start. JD
  24. Today I took out old friends and meeted a new friend.one of the guys wanted to get his father out and catching trout ,so we did . Had 5 guys on the old saber . I drove and watch these guys earned their fish today. They went 13 for 16 . Started out going north from the cove . TD fish hawk sent down to check temp . 50 down was 56 degrees. Loaded with fish 50 to 70 over 180 fow and they had tight lips . After awhile I turned to the east to Aurora. Started soon picking up a small bow , Lakers and and LL and landing a some what decent landlock for the grill. Made the trip around the park and called it by 11:00 to get out of the heat . I was a little disappointed that we couldn't get on any thing bigger than 4 lb . Although we had a snap off and John said it was heavy. I fished last weekend and the fleas were horrible. Today they were light and easy to remove from lines . Sent from my XT1609 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
