  2. I need to know more. I'm Googling 'stable flies ' Are they hatching on land or water. Don't know yet.
  3. I know folks like wearing their shorts and sandals etc. out there but wearing long nylon (breathable) pants and socks and sneakers seems to be the best protection I've found. When doing so they don't seem to come near me but my stubborn buggy buddy is plagued by them with shorts and sandals.......I just shake my head in disbelief that after it happening time after time he still does it. Sorry Bob I know change comes hard for ya

  12. Another solution I have found is using a small 5" fan that plugs into your 12V accessory outlet. It has a large clamping suction cup base that really holds to the wall of the boat's cockpit. Attach it low and point it at your feet. Got it on Amazon for $20. Sent from my SM-T580 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. This was recommended by a fisherman buddy. Got it on Amazon. Worked great yesterday after the little savages found us. Only applied it once from knees down. Leaves a little oily film that they may land on but don't bite.
  14. We saw several smaller parcels of land between I-bay and Hedges yesterday. One was washed up on the rocks in I-Bay channel. Not sure what you're seeing when they're a distance away.
  15. This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. This report was written on July 18, 2019. Notice: Due to high water levels, a local state of emergency order for a “No Wake Zone” has been established for boats 1,000 feet from the Lake Ontario shoreline and tributaries. All motorized boats within 1,000 feet of the shoreline and within these waterways must operate at an idle speed. Lake Ontario/Oswego River report: Notice: Wright’s Landing Marina in Oswego is reopening today, July 18, after being closed for several weeks due to high water. The east end of the lake is producing some nice salmon in 100 to 300 feet of water down 50 to 100 feet. Spoons are working along with flashers and flies at times. Brown trout continue to be active in more shallow water. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.
  16. What model and size flashers are you using? The last time I was out, my 10” spin doctors were crushing fish, but the 8” with the same rig and fly action (adjust the leader lengths), didn’t take a hit. Flasher Flies always do great on my boat, and outfish my spoons hands down. I’ve also had a lot more experience with flasher flies versus spoons. White/Mtn Dew Spindoctors anytime. Darker greens/blues in low light and brighter colors during high sun is usually a good rule of thumb, but any color combo could be hot at any time. Length between my Diver and spin doctor is 10-13’, spin doctor to fly is 24”-36”. I will add two teasers between the spin doctor and fly as well. Behind a downrigger ball, I will run them 15’-30’ back. Every distance will catch fish, so find the distance you have confidence. As much as flasher/spin doctor color matters on many days, so does the fly color. You can never go wrong with olive/white, but chartreuse/white, light blue/white, and dark green/dark blue take the majority of my fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Yes, that is the Sawyer products with Picaradin instead of deet. Learned about it when bigger horse flies bite when cutting the grass. With that on they will bump into you but wont land on you. Great stuff. Get mine at Target or Gander Outdoors. They both usually have it. Has almost no smell which is good also. Sent from my SM-J737V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
