  4. Some ice chunks continue to come down through the Niagara River system, serving as obstacles in the upper and lower river sections. This stems from the fact that the ice boom is still in place at the head of the river between Buffalo and Fort Erie. Winds from the southwest will push ice pieces over the flexible boom. As of Tuesday morning, there was 372 square miles of ice left. There needs to be 250 square miles of ice or less before the boom is pulled. Ice thickness varies right now from 6 inches to 28 inches. We will keep you posted. In the upper river, Jeff Pippard at Niagara Outdoors in North Tonawanda reports that perch have been hitting around Beaver Island State Park at the marina and in many of the bays around the Island. Just look for the Emerald shiners. A few rainbows and lake trout have been taken off Gratwick Park in NT on spinners, too. Click here to see the rest of the report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

  11. Usually it is not the site but the ads at the site that does this redirecting. A simplified explanation is the site usually give a advertising company a window on there site and the advertising company fills those windows with whatever ads they want/need to serve up. One of the biggest threat vectors is bad parties infecting these ads to send you to their sites for whatever reason. Both the advertising company and the site are not doing this bad ad/redirect, but it should primarily be the ad company that cleans these bad ads up. But as said, the best way is to become a pro member and you don't get the ads and this for sure this goes away. Otherwise it will get fixed with whatever bad ad is doing this and eventually another gets through. I have this happen on very big site like cnn.com, ABC.com, ect. If they are showing ads its going to happen.

Cayuga Need to get out on my new to me boat

Wind from any direction can be a problem at high velocity and it also depends on where you are on the (or a) lake. Some lakes have cliffs and/ or trees on the shoreline that can block some of the wind if run closer to shore in the direction it is coming from. You just have to use good judgement....and pay close attention to your own intuition there are wind conditions that nobody should be out there regardless of size or type of boat. In the Finger Lakes launching/fishing a south end location can usually be done with relatively high south wind or that same thing at the north end when wind is reversed but it will get rougher the further you get from that end of the lake toward the middle. With east and west winds hugging the shoreline may help create a fishable condition but you may also have to modify your technique or approach (e.g. run less or different equipment and closer to the boat sometimes). Sometimes you can manage the boat running the big motor rather than the trolling motor going into the wind while maintaining trolling speed.

Browns, Cohos, and Steelhead love them. My brother usually puts one in the water every trip. The Rochester charter captains use them more then they will ever admit to.

30lb braid is sufficient for 10 colors of lead. I splice in 50' of 40lb mono between the braid and leadcore so I have something to clip my planer board release to.
