  3. Today
  4. Let me add, Anthony's knowledge of where to go, what to use and set up was spot on. Within the first 30 minutes 6 of the rods we had just put out were back in the boat. All with fish. I was excited and worried all at the same time. No way was I going to keep the early pace up. LOL Thanks Anthony for a great trip.
  5. Warm winter means trickle spawn. They will be 75% finished by April 1st opener
  6. We used (80's) to catch them at night off the Summerville pier while fishing for Kings. My recollection is that they were restricted from harvest because of the sky high contaminant levels. I fail to understand how they could be present in the upper Genesee if they all travel out to spawn in the Sargasso Sea, there are three impassable falls in Rochester, and another set in Letchworth. But I do recall my grandfather having one he caught when I was young (50's) and my recollection was that he had been fishing at Conesus, but he may have just been down on the pier. Here's a lot of information: Species Assessment for American eel (ny.gov)
  7. Earliest I've ever been in.... I thought about going in last week. Glad I didn't... Hate shoveling snow out of the boat... Good luck this season!
  8. Glad to see your boat in the river today! I have been the only one for the past couple weeks.
  9. Dang, I forgot about my depth raider. Got to figure out a spot and wiring for that too! Most the above is just what's going on in the back of my boat and I haven't even started addressing the front with the trolling motor and house battery either. Might just end up rewiring a whole bunch of it, adding a battery switch, adding a fuse box (if there isn't one already), and moving batteries around to get it to what I'm thinking it should be. Poor boat...
  10. Was tough to go to work yesterday morning seeing how calm the lake was and I had that fishing itch all day. Hit the water after work at 4:30 motored down to shipbuilders only to find clear water moved in. Searched around but no luck on finding good water inside and picked away at a few. Turned out and worked that 20'-30' and it was game on even had a quad at one point. 9 rod spread, 2 x chinook divers, 2 x 1 colors, 5 flat lines. Both natural and bright colors worked despite the clear water. Chartreuse Bay rat and Smithwick, Mongoose Stinger, Chicken wing Stingers with gold back. Got one close to 10lbs biggest so far. Should be back out Saturday weather permitting.... Eric
  11. Thanks all. Finally made it out with new gear. 6pm. 4 browns in 1/2 hr. Got a snag and after a re tie waves got too big. went with the okuma sst 9’-6” medium with a shimano 3000. 15lb power pro. long casts with a 3/4oz cleo and worked great to land the fish.
  12. I will take the coaming pads just shoot me a message with info to pay and we can set up a time I can get them
  13. if I run divers I want nothing but braid for my main line at least 30# with 50# being a better choice. braid has no stretch which makes it much better for tripping your diver. on rough days the release tension has to be set on the tight side to prevent a bunch of false releases, so with anything that has stretch makes it almost impossible to trip the diver. braid doesn't have any stretch and will trip the diver much better. king salmon can make some long hard runs and put on a show above the water at times. as for leaders for kings, I want something strong to prevent the leader from breaking. 20# fluro is the minimum to use. but it's all open water so you can run a lighter line and get away with it by backing the drag off enough the light line doesn't break. for me I don't like losing so much fishing time on the fight with a big king with a light line. it takes forever to land these big fish on a light line. the bottom line for me when running divers is 50# power pro braid for my main line with a leader no more than a foot longer than my rod. the best fluro I have found is Seaguar preimier fluro leader line. this line is the best I have ever used even for walleye fishing on Lake Erie where I use 20# leader line and love using it.
  14. They school ip deep prespawn.
  15. I will grab that weighted heel and the probe cases. Gonna try to make the meeting Tuesday night
  16. Water temp was 37.7 degrees on the lake and 45 at the launch. Guessing the colder water had em slide out some. Good luck!
  17. Yes sir. I have replaced everything with reveal tactacam pros
