  2. The truth is that a boat launch is not cheap to build, and it’s not a very good money maker. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Really nice post Pete You had a great opportunity to see very knowledgeable guys in action....doing what they do best. Brian is at the top of his game and the derby/tourrnament stuff is right up his alley and you had a special look at it. I always enjoy your posts Pete as you have a great flair for writing and do so with humility as well
  6. Todd in NY

    EZ Steer

Also, the rod tensioners come factory pre-set, it should take about 27 pounds of force to pull the rod out. Don't grease or oil the rod.
  7. Todd in NY

    EZ Steer

Just some tips from the owner's manual (my memory might be a little off); Make sure the rod is as parallel as possible when in the running position. Your rod should not have more than 4 to 6 lines or marks showing on the inner rod when connected to both motors (the fewer the better). What kind of issues are you having? Pictures would help.
  8. I've only used transom mounted transducers, so I can't give an opinion about a thru-hull. Swapping a transom mounted ducer is easy. I run my 1198 and HDS 9 on my big lake boat, and the 959 & Elite 9 on my 16' boat. I like running a Humminbird and a Lowrance on each boat because the don't always show the same sonar returns. I also like to run a LakeMaster map chip in my Humminbirds and the Navionics + map chip in my Lowrance units. My Elite 9Ti (not the Ti2) came with the TotalScan transducer and it's a great unit.
  9. Definitely the way to go. 1.3 - 1.8 and you should be golden
  10. Thats rediculous. What if you dont have change on the way out or the machine wont take your money? Stupidity. Tell me why in the heck doesnt NYS make a nice launch at Hamlin Beach? They have all kinds of room for parking and the launch. More money for them. So they might have to make a small harbor or breakwalls or something, they could do like Sturgeon Pt On Erie. Launching around here is a joke and that includes Sandy even when open if you like walking 2 miles to your car.

  15. Hammer Head Cowbell + Gambler Rig = Tired Arms Good luck.
  16. If you don't know how much backing you're going to need that is the best way to do it. With the backing on top initially you can make sure you get the max amount of backing and completely fill the reel so your linecounter will be correct. The correct linecounter part applies more to wire/braid diver setups than copper, but it's still a good idea to try and fill the reel either way. Then simply transfer it to another reel.
  17. I am considering a second unit also to verify the Mark's and eliminate conflicting data. Thoughts on thru hull mounted x ducer ? Sent from my SM-S767VL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. R&R tackle carries thin flutter spoons that will work at cowbell speeds. Super lites are on their website at my tackle box.com Not present on their website are the Kodiak wobbler line of spoons that have a heavy bend and produce great action at slow speeds ( you will have to email Dave to ask for these)
