  2. With the smaller diameter what is a likely out come for copper length with braid backing? This would be for smaller kings out west and occasional Great Lakes salmon, was hoping for 200-250 but that might be a stretch. Thanks.
  3. This show was recorded 3 days ago on Twisted Tackle You Tube show with the owner of Smart Troll Darrell Huff:

  7. We did our maiden voyage April 14 at Sodus. By the time we filled the boat up with gas and messed around with it to make sure everything was working, we were fishing at 9 AM. We started trolling right out of the channel and fished for about an hour. Great color after the big blow so endless good water to fish. Ended up whacking about a half a dozen browns, mostly in 10 feet of water. Despite a good amount of muddy water, the fish seem to want natural colored sticks (gold was great). It was nice that most of what we caught was cookie cutters, glad to have the young browns around again. as it turns out, a lot of guys ended up getting kings a bit deeper. There was alot of really nice catches for the guys who are out all day. Good stuff. boat ran great, and is tucked in and ready to go for the first full trip soon!
  8. Troll east/west. If you're on the bar, and you troll north to south, you're gunna have a bad time. Fish will tell you baits and depth, but you will most likely be running spoon and meat. If you launch out of the river, head towards red buoy, then troll east. If you are out of Wilson, choice is yours to head north and troll to Bar or motor.
  9. Pipe benders electrician's use are made for pipe, tubing is different size's than pipe. Tubing is measured by outside diameter and pipe is measured by inside diameter, or visa versa
  10. Great work Anthony, congrats my friend. There were a few moderate and small rainbows caught. One brown. Anthony had the lunker laker 8lbs.15ozs.
  11. I’ve been experimenting with different setups each time out and have caught fish each time. So far it is one rod that takes the most hits on each trip. One day it was a planer board flat line with crank bait, next time was a 1 color with a spoon, and last time out was the downrigger but over deeper water which makes sense. The one constant is that I have been running every line on one side of the boat instead of spreading them over a larger area.
  12. In shallow water it usually is a bit tricky with only 3 lines. As the boat goes over the quite close bottom the fish tend to move sideways away from perceived danger of a big dark thing just above them. This makes the straight line behind the boat less succesful, unless it is a long way behind the boat. Trolling in a curve, so that the lines go to the side of the boat instead of right behind does help. I often work with small dipsy divers on a 3 setting to get the lures away to the side of the boat
  13. Thanks for the report. Heading up to splash the boat in the weekend. See you out there
  14. Another point to be aware of for Mercury 4-stroke outboards is Mercury specifically recommends lower viscosity oil during cold weather operation. I learned the hard way with my 2019 Mercury 25 EFT 4-stroke. I fish year around here on my home port on Lake Anna Virginia and last winter (January 2023) we headed out on a 35 degree day and before we ever left the slip the engine alarmed and shut down. Fortunately the engine shut down before any real damage…took the boat to my dealer…and he fired up the motor inside his maintenance bay (68 degrees) and no issues. Then he checked the oil change history and eureka the oil was the higher viscosity warm weather oil. So I learned a valuable lesson…read the owners manual wrt different operating conditions and different oil viscosity.
  15. Green hornet interesting thought . Kind of curious on answers to this

  18. On the corner with a 9’ rod with power pro. 3 setting on the diver 12’ out. Twice this year as I was setting it I watch a brown swipe at the spoon just below the surface.
  19. Ended up going 2 coldwater high speeds all new reels and wire for this year. Hopefully be smoother this year . Have had a lot of problems with wire divers and fish break offs . Hopefully new equipment will help
