I use an app called Windfinder. It has some cool features but like anything else out there is giving you an estimate for future dates/times. I have found it to be pretty good at giving me an idea of what's going to happen throughout the day. Interested in what other folks have to say on this.

I have been them flying around in small groups over my cottage You know , I have to say , great group of guys with good attitudes and work ethics . It's a pleasure to be around these folks .

Wind

Unfortunately, 50-100 blew up out of the Yacht club slackwater and out into the lake Tues AM. I figured they were full of lil steelies.

We fish fast in the Spring, 3 plus mph for salmon. So we fish straight spoons at these speeds. We will start with the ff once the thermocline sets up. Does not mean the ff won’t work early.

Thanks for the info. I have a 19 foot Lowe and am replacing a 2006 Johnson 8 hp that was belt driven it was loud and vibrated like crazy. We are planning to fish on Sunday or Monday so we will see how the new motor pushes the boat.

I've used 7 ft diawa wilderness mh rods with wire and mag dipsys and have had no issues. I dont like long diver rods. My outside rods are 8 and 8.5

When do you all start running flashers for salmon? Does anyone run them in spring up shallow? Say 20-40’ or is this time of year only a spoon/stickbait bite?

A lot of guys are running larger diameter shallower pitch props for kickers. Those props are better at pushing heavy loads at slower speeds. Main advantage is better bite, more control, and less prop slip as compared to a prop that is designed to operate at higher speeds. Some specific kickers like the Yammy High Thrust or the Merc Bigfoots have a gearbox that has a lower gearing as well which helps. I swapped out a 3 blade OEM prop on my 9.9 merc 4 stroke that I use on my driftboat for a Solas Amita 4 blade in a 12" pitch versus the 16" pitch prop that came with the outboard - noticable difference in performance. Boat is limited to about 7mph because its a non-planing hull and either prop could get me there but the 4 blade solas definitely moves a lot of water and keeps the boat on track.

The Feds showed up at the Oak to fire blanks and poppers at the birds as we pulled the steelhead pens out to the Lake Monday evening. As well as the chinook’s being released at the docks. They said they’d be there on Tuesday to continue to haze the birds. I know DEC helped schedule them just like last year.

Just bought a Suzuki 9.9 for trolling. It came with the standard 3 blade prop. I see a lot of guys have the four blade props on their trolling motors. What is the advantage of these props for trolling?

I have two LiFePo4 wired for 24 volts for my trolling motor. I have 2 HTRC 20 amp battery chargers to charge them at the same time. Can I only disconnect the positive cable going to the trolling motor and hook up both chargers without un hooking the negative and jumper wires?
