  3. Yeah, over the years I replaced mine a couple times on my Revenge 22. Considered getting one for this boat but seeing as my son bought (and paid for) this one I’m good!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Nice. Those kids will remember those fish for a long time. Hope the Bar heats up for kings!!
  5. I would respool them with the memory of the wire going on your rigger the proper way as stated. Then after taking your weights off reel the terminators up into the pulley on the end or clip them off so they always have tension on them.
  6. Your Whaler needs a OEM Mills Canvas Bimini. They made the originals and have all the correct exact interchangeable fit parts. You can start with the Bimini and add on later without having to have existing canvas reworked to match the new. https://millscanvas.com/whaler-canvas/ Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. i've decided to stick with the cannon as it takes one hand to lower the holder. the 17 adjustments on the traxstech is better than the cannon. but with the rod in one hand its nice to be able to lower the holder just by squeezing the holder and adjusting it. the traxstech takes both hands.
  8. This was our last weekend in Rochester chasing Spring Brown Trout, and we spent it with a great family! We got both days in and the kids were troopers in yesterday's NE blow. This 7yr old girl and her slightly older brother reeled in Brown Trout without much help from the adults! Hot sticks were Bay Rat Ghost Wipe and Ayu. Hot spoons were Sea Sick Waddler and glow frog. 9. Today
  10. It's when I am all done for the day. I pull the boat off and then take the riggers off their mounts so I can put the cover on. As soon as the downrigger weight is no longer "pulling" on the cable to keep it tight, it unspools like crazy. I lay the riggers inside the boat on the floor and as soon as tension is removed from the steel cable, it unspools like a crazy person.
  11. 3 Penn 320 lo lever drags like new little use. $60.00
  12. Spool on 1000' of wire, connect backing, and fill spool. Then, clear the counter on the second reel and wait for all the braid to get reeled onto it and note the line counter number. Repeat that on the empty reel. That's how I do it. If everyone fished full spools we'd all be more accurate when telling buddies where our divers are firing.
  13. Unspools meaning it is slipping on your spool or your spool is turning letting out more cable ?
  14. The issue for me is that it unspools unless there's constant weight/pull on the cable. This wasn't a thing prior to me replacing the cable, and was never a thing with other Downriggers I've owned. I was wondering if it had to do with the diameter/brand/type of steel cable I put on them?
  15. Good quality terminators with good swivels are a must also.

  22. Dave I know of this event there were 4 legal fishermen on the boat that day and the eco witnessed and talked to 2 legal fishermen getting off the boat though he did not ask either of them for fishing licenses, he also witnessed the other 1 get in his vehicle and drive away. The group had caught 10 fish then were driven of the lake by bad weather, do to the windy conditions and safety the captain chose to drop them off where he had picked them up and take the fish to his dock to clean and delver the fillets to them when he was done. That is when the eco came to his dock and ticketed the captain for over limit, the captain offered to call the fishermen the eco had witnessed get off his boat back to the boat but the eco refused to let him. The thing about this your timing of the event is a little concerning since I do believe the steelhead pens were put together the same day as the salmon pens were which was March 30th, they where in the water April 8th, fish were delivered the same day and moved to their permanent docking spot. This event happen on April 12th so how could he discuss this event with you before it happen?
