  2. Size is not an indication overall numbers. The south shore of Lake Ontario has never recovered its population from the 80s and 90s. That is directly related to the gobies. Also, the Smallmouth are still spawning in Cayuga, LO and SLR in June/early July. Many of these "big bags" are bedding fish! Including the big one caught in Cayuga a couple years ago. There are tons of recent studies on the impact of removing fish from beds, even temporarily during C&R tournements.
  3. I saw the wireless kits but I have not spoken to anyone that has one. Let me know if it works out. I did speak to a company that is making new wired remotes for $360 they said they will have them available soon.
  4. Any chance there's some way to corroborate? I can't find anything supportive online, and while I obviously appreciate what you're saying, it's tough to go in guns-a-blazing without solid premise. Thanks!
  5. Today
  6. Several years ago I broke down on the water near Galloo and although Tow Boat did not have a boat close, they did reimburse me for having to use a marina out of Henderson. They are the AAA on the water and their operators are pros.
  7. mr580 Thanks for the good info. Although i love LO fishing, browns, targeting steelies, and salmon, not real fan of salmon for table fare, except maybe the silvers. Think I'm gonna have to make a trip or two to Erie this year. Are the perch available all season or is there a certain time for the hot bite like now that fisherman become tight lipped?
  8. It does pretty good. I hold a little more tension wearing a glove to hold it back. I also add a little more line then needed. Then I go out on the lake, let out 90 percent of the line with a tripped dipsy. Crank it back in and it’s nice and tight.
  9. This is still available if interested. Furuno-Airmar 520IHD, P79 In-Hull Owners Guide.pdf
  10. This is a high priority call to action for anyone that wants to protect their ability to hunt in NYS. I have it from an anonymous budget watchdog source that Governor Hochul has cut the DEC’s 20 year pension out of the current iteration of the budget. This move appears to be the beginning of a stepwise way of phasing out the DEC. The writing was on the wall with the commissioner and vice commissioner announcing they were stepping down. Cuomo started the process when the DEC would not back him in his last governor’s race, wouldn’t back the Safe Act, and blew the whistle on Cuomo when he tried to steal earmarked money from the outdoor fund. Hochul has continued Cuomo’s vendetta. There have been discussions and attempts to roll the duties of the DEC into the Forest Rangers even though Rangers don’t have the law enforcement or firearms training the DEC get. This is the beginning. Without a regulating body to help oversee hunting season, they will argue that there cannot be hunting. This is the back door way downstate will try to get rid of guns. BELIEVE IT, THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING. So coming soon to an outdoor venue near you……open season for poaching our animals, trespassing, and raping our fish runs. Who is going to answer your call when a trespasser with an AR-15 is on your property? If you live in rural areas, who will answer your 911 call when the closest police is 45 minutes away? Who will look for the neighbor’s kid that wandered off in the woods and it is now dark out? I could go on and on but the stark reality is that if you covet your outdoor pursuits and as an extension your 2nd amendment rights, you need to contact your local representative and strongly voice your support for the DEC. Use language that if they support Hochul’s move to dismantle the DEC you will not vote for them. Thank you. 🙏

  13. Cheesyrider, lots of great walleye fishing in NY and Pa waters. Our resident stocks are bolstered as the Ohio fish move east after the spawn. Normally mostly a night bite in NY in early May but daytime fishing picks up as the lake sets up. You don’t have to drive to Ohio for great fishing. As far as LEU activity it’s likely “tight lipped anglers” and not reflective of the great fishing. The good old days are now on Lake Erie. NY has the best perch stocks on the lake now and the parking lots are full(another reason guys keep their mouths shut). If you want a charter Come Fish Lake Erie site lets you pick a NY port and species then gives you a list of captain choices. Try Lake Erie in 2024.
  14. I have it and the towing Insurance. I lost a tranny line at the marina they came and picked up my truck and took it to a repair shop. For 120 a year I cant see why anyone wouldnt
  15. I've got a very lightly used Canadian Fishing Reels 2:1 Mooching Reel and a custom built rod by Mike Rumig. We don't use it very often, so I would part with it. $900 picked up. Reel is blue and silver.
  16. For the price that they charge and the peace of mind that it gives you, it's a no brainer. I usually trailer my boat so I added the trailer towing as well. Take a look at all the different packages that they offer and compare the prices to having to have your boat towed even only once. You can probably buy 5 years of towing insurance for the price of one uninsured towing event. I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law and it is my belief that the only reason why I never broke down on the water is because I bought the insurance.
  17. While it may be true that environments will continue to change, when the changes are brought about through human activities which includes invasive species the problem is that the changes happen so quickly that the environment can't respond fast enough. With zebra & quagga mussels, they cleared the water. This led to a much deeper weed line. This favored some warm water species. Interestingly, walleyes, which tend to lay their eggs along rocky shoals, have apparently benefited from zebra mussels in that some of the eggs get down in between the mussels. Go figure. Similarly, more weeds & clearer water was advantageous for pike which whose eggs have a natural adhesive that cling to the weeds. The mussels out-competed smelt which have disappeared. But the smelt were introduced anyway albeit delicious and a great prey source for the trout fishery. I believe that alewife were introduced as well. Rainbow trout, brown trout, and salmon are all introduced species. Personally, I think alligator gar, Argentine golden dorado, goliath tiger fish, wels catfish, and payara would all be fabulous introductions
  18. Ok,,, my mistake.. Gobies and mussels have helped the fish populations cayuga lakewide and along the St Lawrence...... got it.....
  19. Also still have these for sale $75 for the pair
  20. For sale…. 2 rod/reel combos 1- Borealis combo with a 10.6 rod 1- Okuma Aria-40a reel paired with a riversider 9ft $100 takes the pair
  21. Not trying to argue with you but here’s some bass tourney results….. https://www.wired2fish.com/news/avena-wins-bass-pro-tour-on-cayuga-lake These guys are filling bags with 5lb plus average fish. Those are St Lawrence and Lake Erie numbers which are World Class smallmouth fisheries. If you think that gobies are bad for bass fishing I really don’t know what to tell you. I can’t speak to sunfish but gobies have turned our bass and walleye fisheries in NY into destinations.
  22. Join the club! I've been looking for a corded remote for my TR-1 for a few months now. I ended up ordering a wireless remote kit in hopes that it will fix my issues. Ebay is your best bet to find one... Goodluck!
