Steve, just curious what you hate so much about the coated cable. I'm also a fish hawk to Depth Raider convert (2 seasons now) and the cable has been a non issue. One thing though is, do not unse the thimble and crimps to connect it. If you use the modified tru-trac Klincher terminator set up, you can take the probe off every trip and you don't have the crimps cutting the cable. If the coating wears, you just cut a couple feet of cable off and redo the Klincher. here's a pic of the setup that was on the GLA board a couple years ago just drill out the rivet holding the snap swivel and replace it with a SS machine screw and a couple SS washers. I use a SS nylock nut. leave a long tag end out the top of the Klincher and add a ring terminal to connect it to the screw. I know tru trac went bellyup last year, but someone else is now making those terminal ends (can't remember who of the top of my head), I'm sure someone here will chime in with who that is. Tim

Sorry, ripping on croc wearers is a long running joke on the NBR forum of www.boatered.com but really, aren't they just cheesy ventilated plastic clogs? I refused to wear clogs in the 70's and ain't gonna change now. Tim

Ray, I have a 2 battery setup on my boat and I have the Guest 2611A installed, 10 Amp 5/5 two banks and it works great. I have it plugged in all the time when it's sitting in the slip (don't want the battery to go dead and not operate the bilge pump). Even when the boat is sitting on the trailer in my yard, I plug it in overnight and the batteries are always fully charged the next morning. the 20 amp charger may be overkill and an un-needed expense. You won't go wrong with it, but that level may not be necessary or worth the added expense. Tim

Kickoff the Lake Ontario fishing season by spending Sunday February 24th learning from some of the best Captains on the lake. Formal presentations will be given by Bob Stevens (Sunrise Charters) on Spring Shoreline Brown Trout, Captain Vince Pierleoni (Thrillseeker) on Western Basin Spring Kings, Ernie Lantiegne (Fish Doctor) on Derby Winning Techniques and Frank Campbell (Niagara Region Charters) on Niagara River Steelhead. In addition, over 25 Charter Captains will be available in the Expo area to talk fishing and answer your questions. It’s also a great opportunity to get ready for the season by upgrading your Tackle and Equipment by shopping in the Expo so that you’re ready to go when the weather breaks in the Spring. See WWW.LOTSA.ORG for all of the details.

Brian, Are Bass not out of season on Honeoye? Tim -
Bob, Garelick does make a swim platform kicker bracket, but I can't say first hand how they work. I have a full width teak swim platform on the back of my Thompson that I don't want to remove to put a kicker on (that's where the 176 qt cooler goes ), and found this one last year when researching options: http://www.shipstore.com/SS/HTML/GAR/GAR71078.html I haven't done anything about a kicker yet so I haven't tried it myself. Makes sense to me. You get what you ordered, then you complete the transaction. Tim -
Setting rods - What order?
Tim Bromund replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
not on the clicker, just back the drag off so it creeps out under tension. That way the dipsey fishes it's way on out to it's final destination. Tim -
Setting rods - What order?
Tim Bromund replied to Yankee Troller's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
always get the starboard wire diver started first, then as that is in the rod holder creeping out, I drop the probe rigger (also starboard). Repeat the procedure on port side, core/copper after those are down and set. It's great when that first diver rod gets whacked as it's creeping out while I'm setting the probe rigger. Happens quite a bit. Tim -
