  1. I was wondering if anyone has changed out their hitch/brake cylinder on thier trailer. I know mine is shot and needs to be replaced. There is a lot of slack when towing and no trailer brakes. The trailer is a 1987, and currently in storage so I can not check anything at this point but I am getting parts around to do it in the spring. Seeing that it is a 1987 should I just place on buying wheel cylnders, pads, and new lines. Also anyone has any idea on cost for a total replacement and/or where I can get parts?... Thanks for the ideas and info.

  2. I have signed up and paid the deposit.. I think this class will be fun. It will be good to put a face to some of the names on here.. Splitshot, according to the email I got from Seatech the final date of the discount price is 1/17/09.. Judging from their last email we now have the 10 needed to have the class. Do you know how many of us that have signed up? Looking forward to the class.

  3. Hey carlm we went out to where you were Sat night, Had a double first thing landed the little king, but the water boiled and the rod was screaming on the other and then the hook pulled. Went back to the same location on Sun, but seeing there is no place to get gas from 8:30pm-5:00am we knew we could only last a couple of hours. We hit a tripple right after we got the rods sent and landed one small king. Then nothing. Oh WWell thanks for the tip.

  4. My dad bought a boat out of florida that was use to salt water. The first time out we launched from Arneys in sodus and by the time we got to the piers water was starting to come above the floor. Luckily we made it back to Arneys in time. It was the exhaust manafolds had rusted where they connect to the outdrive. Great job by the rescuers. After almost 8 years in the coast guard I have seen way to many people in that situation, and it is always great to see a happy ending to a grave situation.

  5. Thanks for the tips and yes the first person I planned to speak to is the Bartender with a $20. All the reviews from this resort is 4.5 out of 5. Yes it is Sandals owned but because it is a value resort we do not have free access to the other Sandals resorts. Which is fine by me I do not care about the multimillion dollar entrance or the lavish rooms. Honestly how long do you plan to spend in the room out of bed. Figure a couple hours romance 6 hours for sleep and off to the bar again oh wait I mean the beach. We are planning on a Zip Line trip, going to Rics cafe for some cliff diving we had a massage planned and then she wants to go para-sailing. we are looking right now for a snorkelling cruise for 15 people and it includes the cruise, snorkelling, lobster lunch and yep you guessed all the drinks you can swallow for $40 per person. This will be a thank you to all who is coming with us. But I will have a hard time not trying to catch fish while snorkelling. My luck I will grab one of those poisonous blow fish and damn near die because I am thinking the health care is not that good, but then again they have had a civil war going on for centries.

  6. skipper you bring up a good point. Patterson should look into your proposal. If he got money that way from the launch spectators then he wouldn't have to charge up to launch. If he thought about it if he didn't charge more people would launch causing more accidents creating more spectators. You should run for I Love NY visitors agency.

  7. Thanks for the info. We are staying at the grand pineaplle resort. It is sandals owned property but with econlodge prices. It's an all inclusive resort and for 7 nights all the food and beverages one can put down total cost for two $818, for the most expensive room that is 25 ft off the beach. Total cost for fights, food and room $1400 ($700 each) and another $400 for the wedding. I figured I could find a local and pay him $100 and go fish some where. One thing I find great is that once you get off the airplane you go to the resort's waiting room for transportation and free drinks, you go shopping free drinks, you go on a cruise yep you guessed it free drinks. I think I will be coming home with a red stripe and needing a liver transplant. yeah

  8. Just wondering if anyone has ever fished in Negril Jamacia. I am going for 8 days in July. There is only one day that my fiancee says that I can not go fishing and that is when we get married. Wow, i guess she feels that it will be the last time she gets to tell me what to do. HA HA HA yeah right. I am not really looking at getting a $1200 charter to catch dolphin, or mackeral been ther done that. Has anyone done some beach fishing by the cliffs. I have done tons of searhing on the web and have found nothing. Please let me know so I am not stuck getting plastered from the all I can drink for free and getting burned to a crisp when I pass out on the beach.

    Thanks

  9. tim thanks for the response, While talking to the bank they wouldn't do much as far as the loan. The would only loan me $4600 for the high end of a 23ft. While talking to them the next day and listing the stuff that comes with it, they asked what type of cover did it have. told them that it was a hard top. She said, they don't show hard tops until 25 ft, but listed under the 23ft showed the correct weight, beem, and engine. So basiclly what they are doing is giving me the loan based on a 23ft with a hard top which places the value between $4600 and $6250. Will probably get it for $5500 with all the equiptment. again thanks for the response.

  10. I am trying to buy a 25 ft thompson offshore cruiser. The problem I am finding is that when I look up under NADA for the value it doesn't show a 25ft offshore cruiser only 23ft offshore cruiser as does the bank. Is there any other places that I can find t,he value of this. I do have the hull number. The title and bill of sale states 25ft. I am buying this from my father and he is the only owner. Thanks in advance for any and all information.

  11. Hit the water around 7am for the first time this year, windy and rough, rolling 4-6 footers when we started. Set up in 45 FOW. Made it out to 71 fow and a Red and black T-storm JR fired with a 7lb Coho. set it back out 5 mins later 10lb steel started dancing. Went quiet for about an hour, then the the first King about 10 lbs of the year fired on a silver Hookster with an orange ladder back 41 down 50ft back, and another Coho fired (double). Slowly the lake started to lay down, and the rods started firing. We ended the day 15-18, with 5 kings (5lb, 11, 15, 16, and a 22lb), one 10lb laker, 10 lb steelhead, the 8 Cohos. All releases came on 4 lures, (red/black t-storm Jr, silver Hookster with an orange ladder back, Blank NK with orange tape, and blue dolphin) All the kings came 41ft down 50ft back and 95% of the fish came at 71fow water temp 46.7*. we quit fishing around 1:30 to head home, the lake had some slow rollers layed down to 1-3's.

  12. Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I had placed an ad on craigslist for a truck i was selling. I got a 7 Scam replies. One of them was a guy who said he was from TN but working in London as an engineer. He wanted to send me a check with an extra amount to pay for the shipping back to his home in TN. He said that his buddy in Idaho will set up the shipping arrangements all I have to do is cash the "certified check" and with the extra money pay the shipper once they come. I knew this was a scam and after looking into this more I found a website from the FBI about this very scam. I called them about this email and they said what the scammers do is, Make a deal to buy something. Then pay extra to have it shipped to another state. You'll get the check and deposit it. after 2 days the banks cashes the check and puts the money in your account. You call them back to let them know that the check has been cashed. They then cancel the transaction and tell you they want thier money back, most times telling you to keep $200 for inconvienence. You send them the money back. No Problems right, you made $200? Well because the check comes from another country, the bank cashes the check in 2 days but it won't clear for 30 days. You send the money and then the bank finds out it is a fake check, your out that money you sent. these scams are be done out of West Africa and Nigera according to the FBI.

  13. The origional poverty stricken has a new owner. Let me give you guys a hint about putting something in the paper for free. make sure you put in times to call, I didn't do this. The first call came a 6:30 am I work till midnight. I got almost 150 calls before 9am, I had to change my voice mail to, boat is gone. Yet there is still some people still leaving voice mails about the dang thing. I had 3 guys show up at the same time, I told them I would be there at 8:30 and it was first come first serve. When I got there, only one person was there. He said he would take it, the second guy showed up and left without an issue, the last guy showed up 15 minutes later and was pissed off and wanted to fight the first guy over it. I didn't care who took it the first guy or the last one standing I wanted it out of there. The last guy left after I told him it was first come first serve without any more complaining.

  14. if you know anyone who wants a free 14ft fiberglass boat with trailer, let me know. I don't know much about it other than it needs a new floor and a tire. I am thinking that it was made in the 70's (it used to be redneck yaught's origional poverty stricken), until I showed him the ways of salmon fishing on the Big O. I will include a 1986 35hp (I think) motor for $500 and all the controls. The engine runs great, has new fuel pump and impeller (in 2007) but does need a new head cover plate (new one around $60).

  15. Mr Happy, you are correct that 100 acres is not a lot, but when you consider that is what we own. there are probably 10 houses in a 3-4 mile range. I can not speak on the other lands as I do not hunt them. As far as the people hunting on our land they are either family or close to family. People who own land in the adjacent properties, have stopped and talked to my aunt who owns the old farm on the top of the hill and all have said they have seen a decline in deer population and an increase in coytoes. Could there be poachers? yes. could there be people hunting the land that we don't know? Maybe, but they would noticed if they had a car. Yes many years ago a huge impact was hit on the deer, from our woods and others. The question I was asking shouldn't the popluation have bounced back by now if the decline was from hunting alone. now the deer you see in our woods may be a 2 sets of doe and 2 yearlings a couple of small bucks and one dominate buck. There also has been a huge decline in turkeys. a few years ago I had 30 birds walk under my tree stand most were jakes. this year I have seen only one flock with about 6-10 birds in the fields. I have seen a few scraps and feathers where something had gotten them. For me I am not buying the bridge that coyotes have had no impact.
