  1. Worked in Ithaca for about 15 years and took eastshore dr. to work everyday.  In the spring the run off went up the east shore headed north.   The west shore  from taughanock south was clean water headed south..  There is always a pile of sticks and logs headed north on the east side. up past the water plant.  Fish hawk works good to get the speed right.  Lily , I am glad your enjoying the boat.   I always caught a bunch of fish  on it..

  2. Do you have down speed ?  Speed for me has to be changed when I switch direction of troll to keep same speed at ball. Nice report.

South troll on the west side your going with the lake current.  You can see it in the spring run off.  The west side is usually clear and east side muddy.  Speed up on the south troll .

  3. Been using Blacks this season on Cayuga.  Tightened them up since I like to crank the rods down but every trip we wonder at least once or twice if we just spent 15 mins dragging a fish.

Less than a quarter turn and they are too loose and pop off with speed changes or weeds, a slight turn back and we are dragging fish for a free ride up the lake.

Put in your 5, or 6 twists in the line.  Then pull it and put 4 more or so loose twist in the line.   That makes the tag from the release longer and shows the shaker landlocks you get in the fingerlakes.

  4. Fish have a different number of cones in their eyes.  They can see in ultraviolet which humans can't.

Just because we can't see it dosen't mean the fish can't see it at depth.  They make their living down there, we just sorta visit once in a while.

  5. Bear one the dart hit a vein and not muscle as intended.   Bear two, there was a second bear a week later spotted crossing the road up near the high school.   The school was locked down.  This bear didn't come into the city like the first and skirted around to the river and hills to the south.  These are probably young bears run off by mom with new cubs.

  6. This was a couple hundred yards from my house on Elm st.  The DEC got this bear out of Herkimer acouple of weeks ago.  It must be hard to know how much stuff to knock out the bear with.  .  This bear liked the easy pickings in the cities.  You can't have a "wild" bear running around in a neighbor hood with grade school kids waiting for the schoolbus.  Its to bad the bear died,  I feel he would go back to the easy picking in another town if he was released..  The fall didn't look that bad , they caught him in a net so he didn't hit the ground.

  7. Regular rivets you will have to get to the back side to tighten them up .  A dolly or anvil on one side and an air hammer and settint toll on the outside.  They make a "pop-rivet" that has a solid back , buy it requires a heavy duty tool.  Do  a search on the web for rivets , they arn't to expensive for a bag of 100.
