  1. Rob, My brother had a 5 color core out 2 weeks ago. That lasted about 15 minutes before a king tangled it all up. This year had been a downrigger bite for us for some reason?? When I start fishing those pro am's that's when I'll get into copper. John
  2. (Your Name) : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): (fishing date here) Time on Water: (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) Temp/Weather: (85°F and sunny, overcast, rain, snow) Wind Speed/Direction: (NW at 8 MPH) Waves: (1-2 Footers, Calm) Surface Temp: (72°F) Location: (fishing location) LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) Fished with my brother and father tonight. Ended up with 6 bows, 1 small king and a decent laker. Marked some fish in 60 fow but on the bottom the water was 38 degrees. Trolled north and when we hit 225 fow the deep temp came up 3 degrees and we started hitting fish. One bow was around 9 lbs and the last one was 11.5#. Beautiful fish, lots of jumping. The skipper king did not trip the release and as I'm reeling him in I notice he has a few lines tangled. When I go to hoist him up on the boat he has a mag nk and and and a 28 nk in his mouth. Man no wonder why they grow so fast. We worked that break and that's the only place we hit fish. As the sun began to set we started marking fish but they were 120 feet plus deep. Great father's day night. Good fishing! 3. Nice pic Mark. It's always nice to see a Rochester Boy in the mag. John
  4. Scott, Was there a payout for 2nd? Or was it winner take all? John
  5. Anthony, Sorry I'm not text ready.... With the new phone coming next month when my plan expires I'll move into the new millenium and learn how to text. John.
  6. We were just east of you in the 18 ft. Whaler. We were 3 for 4 on kings, all spoons at 40-50 down over 90-110 fow. The first king around 13# tried his damnest to get off first going into the wire, then the core, then the other wire . I like it better when they take out 300 ft. of line and are less green around the boat. The other 2 fish were 8# and 4#. Not fast and furious but a nice night on the lake. Good fishing. John
  7. Yeah we started off the bay but we ended up closer to the river. John
  8. Hans, we were inside of you. We did one 13 lb king in 80 fow then a small bow in 105 fow. That was it for us. We should have moved a bit deeped but stuck in the 120 ft. range when 3 boats went by us with fish on . At least one nice king in the bunch. John
  9. I can only find one of them and I'm going to hold onto it for now. John.
  10. Macgyver, Did you launch at Braddock's? How's the water depth? Are the channel markers in? John.
  11. Jeremy, I was on Arneysmarina.com a little while ago and they have a few used outboards for sale. I don't know how the prices stack up for your needs. Good luck. John
  12. Got a late start but was able to find some fish in 8/10 fow off Russell. I think we did 5 browns and 1 rainbow, between 9am-12pm. Watch out for the rock in 7/8 fow just west of Russell, it's about 2 feet under water. It was great to get out. Good fishing. John.
  13. Richard, The $50 is for the planer boards only. I can only find one of the Cannon Elite clamp on reels. I had them clamped on my hardtop brace. I need your zip code to find out how much shipping would be. If I can find the other reel I can get you a price on them also. John.
  14. Does anyone have any names and possibly phone numbers for marinas on Sandy or Oak. Looking for either monthly or summer dock rental for a 22 ft. Hardtop boat. Thanks in advance. John
  15. Richard, I'm sorry I haven't checked the board in a while. Anyways they are still for sale and if you call please leave a phone # so I can call you back. I'm pretty firm on the $50 plus shipping or we can arrange pickup in the Rochester area. Thanks, John.
  16. Got started right at first light. Not much happening off the river so trolled towards Russel in 10/20 fow. Saw a few fish roll but only hooked up with a 5# Steelhead in 80 fow, down 15 on a metallic frog SS. That was it. We made it down to Braddocks and in 110 fow their was diving ducks, comorants, merganzers & loons everywhere. There must have been 300-500 birds. I didn't mark much around them so I hope they didn't clean out a whole baitfish population..... See ya next year. John
  17. Billy, I used that Sikkens this year and it has definately held up better than anything else. The regular teak oil only seems to last a few months. John
  18. I'm there with you. I fished from 6:30-9:00 am and didn't pull anything. I heard of one 6# Brown, but didn't see much taken. We slid out to 70 fow and found 62 degree temps on the bottom. Decided to cut our losses and head to work. What channel do you monitor? I have to 22 ft. Grady, I must of trolled by you at some time. John.
  19. Way to go Rob. Are you off all week? Where did you get the cutbait from? My brother picked some up at Mitchell's on Lake ave. and it was pretty nasty looking. John
  20. BigRed, Yup, you need to send it in. I've had 3 older digitrols changed over. 2 to mag 10's and 1 to a mag 20. Screwy Louis can change it over to a mag 10 but to get to a mag 20 Cannon (Minkota now) (Johnson Outdoors) must do the work. When I had it changed to a Mag 20 in 2005 it was $250. The change to mag 10 was somewhere around $150-$175. Good Luck. John
  21. Started out late today somewhere around 7:45. Anyways, did a 24.5# king, 210 out 2.5 set mag dipsey purple dock, purple fly, in 135 fow. Ended up with 2 other smaller bows, purple frog 65 down, and white dr, purple mirage 100 down. That was it, quit around 11:30. Had the carb rebuilt this week and it still needs to be adjusted. We could only get up to around 2800 rpm and 15 mph. I'm not sure how bad the storm building off Braddock's was but being a slow boat today I really didn't want to find out. Has anyone heard so many weather reports with Waterspouts mentioned in the same sentence. I think this is the 3rd report this week alone. Good Fishing. John
