Please read this and then consider joining one of the associations.

For less than the cost of most attractor paddles / flashers you can join one of the associations that help keep an eye on the fishery, set up meetings, events, and opportunities relating to the great fishery that we all have on Lake Ontario.  Numbers matter when these associations talk with local and national politicians over concerns or needs to maintain the fishery as we know it.  By joining, you will receive newsletters, be a part of a like minded organization where many contacts and opportunities will be available, and be a part of a larger collective voice.  This is time and money well spent, whether you live a few miles form the shoreline or states away.

Below find the associations, where they are active, and websites to get further information including membership enrollment information / materials.  Copy and paste the URL into the browser or look up the association in google to get to the respective web page.

ELOSTA - Eastern Lake Ontario Salmon and Trout Association - covers from east of Port Bay up to Henderson Harbor region of the Lake https://www.elosta.org/

LOTSA - Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Association - covers from Port Bay to the Niagara River  https://lotsa1.org/

LOCBA - Lake Ontario Charter Boat Association - promotes charter and sportfishing across the lake  https://lakeontariocharterboatassociation.com/sign-up/

    Consider joining them all!

LOCBA offers an associate membership that is free!

Well the lake sure is filling up the last few days . Went down to my cottage at Sandy last night and I have never seen it flowing so fast

Also we got an input of phosphorus as the Genny had 120k gallons  raw sewage overflow into her , which is good for the bait .

It wont go far but Ill take what ever nutrients we can get at this point

Thanks for the response. I like my Convectors and would be happy to buy another pair. Are the drag upgrades no longer needed for Convectors?

I will admit that upgrading the drags is awesome however I have been told that straight out of the box they are solid now.

Looking to add another pair of wire divers this year. Was doing some research on the Coldwaters and found some threads on sticking drag issues. I primarily run Convectors and have upgraded the drags. Saw a few older threads (2021-ish) that said Okuma was supposed to upgrade/address the drag problem. Anybody know if Okuma has followed through?

Any thoughts on Coldwaters as diver reels? Would I likely be just as satisfied with upgraded Convectors? I am on a somewhat limited budget, so the better half won't appreciate any suggestions to spend more money. 😉

According to my Okuma Rep the sticky drag issue was finally resolved. After years and years of back and forth with them I was told the resolved the issue.

With that being said both the coldwaters and convectors have the same drag. I have used both as diver reels and they both do the job however I prefer the Convector 30 high speed  personally. I never have liked the "looks" of the coldwaters.

Thanks guys!   Exactly as you describe Rob...soon as autopilot off, interference stops.    Only oddity is it

didn't do it when we first  started using the boat in April, so if this is what it is, I'm guessing the lines might

have gotten jostled and moved in rough water or moved when we had to change out the charger and/or

    house batteries.

My wiring also goes through the same hole in the bulk head so i needed to pull them apart and separate them the best i could.

  9. Agree with Rick... Chase that power wire down to the pump and make sure to separate the two. I had a similar issue 2 years ago. The problem didnt exist until one day when I decide to tidy up things and zip tied them together.  The quick tell for me is it only happens when the pump activates. So on calm days it rarely did it. However on rough days it was terrible. The second I would shut off the autopilot the interference would stop.

Personally Im an Okuma guy so anything in the 45 series would be my choice. Okuma Convector 45DS would be my pick. Its a high speed reel (6.2:1)
