  1. Went to the Sox game Friday, and decided to shoot up to Gloucester on Saturday morning to see the memorial and buy some seafood. We stopped at a spot with a sign for Lobster for sale, and then noticed it was the "Home of Hard Merchandise". We went out back to see the Falcon and Hard Merchandise boats, and Dave Marciano and his son Joe showed up. We spoke with him briefly, and took a couple pix. He is a nice guy. We didn't bother him for more than a minute or 2. Maybe the show has some scripted parts. I watch it a bit. Not every episode. Better than a lot of other stuff on, that's for sure. The fact is that a likeable 28 year old kid died. That is sad. No reason to get on soap boxes or bash other members, pro member or not. Makes you think about what is really important. Enjoy every day out there...20180728_101436.jpg20180728_101426.jpg20180728_101059.jpg20180728_100007.jpg20180728_092627.jpg20180728_092923.jpg

  2. Gobies are very different  fish from alewife with very different regs.

What you said was it was illegal to catch or transport alewife, and you posted with a finality that implied that you are  an "authority," and said " Read the regs."   You posted incorrect information, perhaps you should reread the regs yourself.

For anyone who is interested in CORRECT information, here is the link to the pages in the guide.

I never said it was illegal to catch them. I said it was illegal to catch them and fish them as live bait. And I indicated there are concerns with transport. Re-read my post and lighten up...

  3. Please quote from the regulations where it says that.  It is perfectly legal to use alewife for bait, but only in a listed number of waters.  They can also be transported, but only within defined corridors.  You can harvest your own, but only using listed methods.

If there is so much bait out there, why are the fish being so suicidal on metal spoons this year?  Or are there too many salmonids even for a HUGE bait population?
So, I read the regs a while ago. Mostly because I was asked about Gobey as bait for bass. I don't feel the obligation to read and summarize my interpretation here. If you interpret differently I am fine with that. I am just saying that anyone who want to catch bait should know the regulations. I am not an authority on the subject.

When I trailered a boat with a kicker I used a ratchet strap around the motor up to the stern cleat to keep it from bouncing.
