  1. A 26' Grady White landed a 1,000 pound tuna off Oregon Inlet on a video show out of Wanchese, NC. 45 miles off shore in the gulf stream this season. Now if you want action there you go. Groups of up to six anglers charter a boat and go home with a years supply of tuna processed by a commercial factory there. Travel from New York is in a van and a ten hour drive from here. Search out Wanchese and Oregon inlet fishing sites.
  2. New York's April 1st trout fishing opening showed low stream flows upstate compared to previous years. Do not anticipate high flows this year to raise Lake Ontario from snow melt and rainfall.
  3. Probably with shipping returned to the St. Lawrence River system the gates on the power dams maybe will be closed some to return the Lake Ontario to normal levels. Amazing they never admitted this is away to control lake level. I suppose with the high river currents they are afraid a ship could get aground sideways like the Suez Canal deal.
  4. After 8:00 AM with the sun up high, head out to 50 foot or deeper. Use light action spoons at slower speeds in your mix setup.
  5. Some windmill stooges sucked up one million dollars of our tax dollars to make up a "study" to sell to the public reasons to accept the Lake Erie windmill installations. Can not they see the millions of acres of rural property where the tax paying owners could use the rental payments to pay their property taxes.
  6. O On the way down now off shore fishing for Tuna. etc, in the steaming Gulf Stream forty miles off shore is available at Oregon Inlet and Wanchese NC. Search out"wanchese fishing offshore charters."
  7. Murrells Inlet a few miles south has good head boat fishing off shore. Fishing piers such as Apache RV park are good, North Myrtle Beach also has offshore fishing and inlet fishing. Beach fishing is every where. My favorite deal is Murrells inlet, check it out.
  8. The windmill stooges on the Great Lakes freshwater area has sucked a million dollars from Albany to sell the public acceptance of them in our lakes. Meanwhile millions acres of farm land could use the income to pay their taxes. Are the Albany people cracking up?
  9. Really magical that all of last years flood waters disappeared. No explanation available. What happened to the flood control funds?
  10. The Power on the river generated had a boom revenue time as no one stopped the flow of water after all the high lake levels for the past years. Will all the appropriated flood control expenditures be returned to the taxpayers?
  11. You can register the boat as an untitled boat. After a year and no one claims it you may receive a new title Make it clear it was abandoned on your Property. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United.
  12. 39 degree water is the same , top to bottom. That is the "the turn over" event.
  13. Brown trout have the potential to exceed 18 pounds and are able to survive spawning and return to the fishery for many years to come. Taking one on light lines is a greater battle than Chinook salmon. Atlantic salmon are spectacular catches and return to the fishery. They have greater accessibility to stream anglers and near shore fishing.
  14. Alewife populations that were uncontrolled and died by the millions were the cause for the salmon and trout stocking programs.
  15. Early spring fishing success depends on locating warmer 42+ degree water near shore where creeks and drainages hit the lake. Watch your surface water temperature gauge and side planers out fish long liners. Stick baits that float up on turns or stopping for snagged spoons will make your fishing enjoyable. Muddy water has clearer water underneath and cover the fish from the high sun light.
  16. The warmer surface water formed in the western basin will return here faster now when the generally SW breezes return. The remaining ice is going fast now.
  17. It is best to melt the ice in the lake. Happens quicker and less damage.
  18. A lot of ice in the Niagara River can damage docks and stops lower river boat fishing.
  19. Ice coverage yesterday was estimated at 1%. It looks like they will melt the ice in the lake now.
  20. The Welland Canal is open to ice free water now.
  21. MSU Lake Ontario surface water temperatures satelite view. Book mark this site for starting spring fishing areas.
  22. Falling out of your boat underway is easy to enforce.
  23. Normal lake levels are what we seek.
  24. Yesterday Lake Erie had a lot of open water off Sturgeon Point. Warm water from the western basin should be flowing through the Welland Canal to Port Dahlousie and Port Weller. Fishing on the Bar should start soon. A lot of ice is held back by the Power Authorities boom now so the lower Niagara River is take your chances.
  25. The ice boom protects slush from blocking the Power Authorities intakes above the falls. A lot of current happens there and the value of the power generated there is valued in the millions daily.
