  1. The Costa mirrored finish does not hold up around the edges of the frame, mine are showing it after 3 years as well as my brother's. My Ocean Waves never did it, the mirrored finish is perfectly intact around the edges and everywhere. I will eventually send the Costa's back into the factory for replacement. Both lenses are great for serious outdoor activities on water, I am merely commenting on the reality of what I have observed.
  2. Costa 580's or look at Ocean Waves... only problem with the Waves is finding a place to try them on... I still have a pair of Waves with lenses that are 15 years old... I am not certain that my Costa lenses will last that long before the mirrored finish will delaminate.
  3. I have 2 spare displays that came as part of an ebay auction a few years ago. I verified functionality when I got them but have not in a few years. I will be getting into the boat the first weekend in April and will check them both out.
  4. Readout display or the probe for the 285 Command Control?
  5. I have a pair of Daiwa 47 Accudepth LC's (older version with gold sideplates) spooled with 30lb wire (at least 900'/reel) and paired with 9 1/2' Daiwa Heartlands (Green) with twilli-tips. Rods and reels are in good condition with usual cosmetic issues from use. Reels were torn down and lubed this past summer. $60/ setup.

  7. 1 3/4" OD Model OH2016F. Invested in a pair of wishbones and now have these for sale. Great condition only being used on freshwater. Make me an offer! http://www.leetackle.com/gunnel.html
  8. Right on the mark... Fishfighter and Yankee! My exact thoughts when the new plan was rolled out and still my thoughts after competing in the Orleans this year. Bring back the old and provide a two day tournament that actually separates the men from the boys. Spreading the wealth thru a socialist agenda is poor economic policy and becomes worse when applied to a fishing event that waters down the competitive juices. The original intentions of these events were to be a two day tournament, the big dog was the team that strung together two days of solid fishing to win the crown... Day one was a prelude to Day two, could #1 hold on or not? The answer has virtually always been no and that's the beauty of the two day event. This tournament series must go back to differentiating itself itself from single day events or it will fail next year. Respectfully submitted to the many organizers that have devoted countless hours to planning these events and placed themselves in line for this scrutiny.
  9. Atta Boy Deuce!!! But I really could do without the visuals!
  10. LMAO.... This is beautiful... Guess they were getting very desperate at the office in Buffalo to try to get some REAL information about the lake...

  14. If there is no coolant remaining in the engine and there was visible coolant in the bilge and none in the oil, then chances are you busted the first seal before the seal to cam shaft. There is a weep hole at the bottom front of the engine behind your belt that will allow a steady stream of coolant to leak out. The enitre front of the engine needs to be lifted out to replace the seal, it is a pretty big jump but it is a fail safe for these engines. That being said, your bigger problem could be the temperature that engine got to, so do be prepared that you may have warped the head and done other damage as well. It might be wise to refill with coolant with the mechanic and ensure that engine appears to be running properly and observe if coolant is coming out of the weep hole I described. If I misunderstood that you did not see coolant in the bilge area then the only other possibility would be escaping fluid from the exhaust manifold seal. I have twin470's and have been thru of these issues with my starboard engine. I check all fluids before I even start the engines and leave the dock just to be sure. There is alot of literature on the internet on both of these issue just do a search. Bill Zahn- Independent Marine Services in Irondequoit has been doing my work for the past 6 years.
  15. Chris, My old boat with an OB had a bad sensor under the ignition that caused it to chirp but I also had it chirp when weeds covered up the intake and temps rose. I used to dock at Mayers and the weeds were horrible this time of the year... so it's possible that water pressure and or temp was a sensed issue with the system due to an obstruction. Anyway, nice work out there and a continuation of a great season. I feel your pain with the ones that got away. the comparison of the high 20's fish we landed against all of the low to mid 20's was night and day, bounce that back to many of them we lost with tackle failures and losses after a long battle and I know we left at least a handful of 30lb class fish on the table, esp on Thursday.
  16. @Motoman- yes I have all welded ring swivels except I was running very large split ring locking swivels on my wire setupes and have been for years without failure until now... needless to say, I went to welded ring swivels on my wires now, though a smaller size than I would like. @Anthony- My brother comes back every year despite being on the ocean and all it has to offer, he misses this fishery. We both grew up fishing this lake every weekend and both worked many charters... he's been in Charleston for 15 years, but this lake is stillin his blood. And that laker, yeah it may have been 20th place, but we weren't going to waste the effort to keep it and weigh it only to se it get bumped or not be quite big enough. @Chris- yeah steering work around was perfect all weekend, I just have power steering on one engine and other was in a recirculation loop until we can get the priority valve rebuilt/cleaned up. I slept much better Thursday night knowing it worked like a charm! @Everyone else- Thx...and just great to get back out and fish hard with my brother... I've caught alot of huge kings on this lake thru the years, but I have never experienced tackle failures and humbling experiences like this for an entire year let alone a single weekend! Time to re-adjust things for the rest of the year, we left some huge fish out there like everyone else has this year.
  17. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: UpGrady ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/26 zthru 7/28 Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My brother was up for his annual visit from South Carolina to re-acquaint himself with the Big O. Despite the forecasts, we managed to put in full days thursday thru saturday. Wind and or storms kind of forced us to sit back and delay our starts each day, but it really did not matter, the king bite pretty much held up every day. Thursday was a banner day, setting up at 9am after the storms and fishing until 4pm, rods were moving every 15-20 minutes like clockwork and the fish were big. The biggest ones lived to swim another day as they tore up my tackle like no other day I can ever remember. The bites were mainly coming on the wires with spinnies and they were savage, many long runs only to end in a disappionting tackle failure of missing trebles, straightened out split rings, blown out snubbers and busted wires. The fish we did boat were all in the 18-22lb range as well as a few teenagers mixed in. All in all a very expensive day! We spent all day in 120-160 fow. 80-90 down, 200' mag diver and 280' regular diver on 2's. Dinosaur BBQ capped off a stellar day. Friday morning we were greated with a nice NE blow, so we held back and ran to Jay-Ve to replenish some supplies, then headed out into the swells about 8, the day started hot in the same water with more matures in the 21-24lb range and about 11am it died, we continued to work them over until they diappeared, so we ventured offshore to see what would happen. Ended up picking some teenagers, steelhead and nice 16lb laker during the afternoon before we called the quits and headed to Tahou's! 80-100 on riggers, divers were somehwat quiet today. Steelhead in the 50-60ft range offshore. Saturday morning we had grand ambitions of hitting it early only to be faced with another NE wind and storms... we did make it out around 7am and set lines on a south troll in 170 fow. First mature went off in 150 fow and then it got slow, but the fish were there. The boat traffic was a bit tough in the area but almost everyone continued north. We stuck it out and by 9am the big boys were playing again, even had a nice 17lb laker mixed in and an 11lb brown for good measure. 130-150 fow was the zone. Riggers at 80 and 100, wires at 230-240. Once it hit about noon the bite slowed as storms were brewing and the wind shifted north and kicked up again, but we picked some small fish, we even went old school on them with dodger squid setups for an hour until the wind kicked up. About 3pm after we had drifted into 100fow, the 240 wire starts screaming...finally a fish that was staying on and clearly bigger than the 18-24's we have been boating for the past three days... 1/2 hour later and we have a beautiful 28lber on board. So, it ended up as a great day, with three new boat records for Laker, Brown and King since I took back ownership 6 years ago... Time to pull lines on that note and grill a couple of big ribeyes back at the ranch... It was killing me this morning driving Lars back to the airport at 5:30am not to be on a somewhat calm lake today, but thankful that the weather cooperated as well as it did for us for the three days that we had... Me with one of the many "small" matures Brother Lars with his 17lb Laker Me with 11lb Brown Lars with the Big King for the Weekend
  18. I agree... at least it worked against the residents to be able to do the same... I know that the anchored jet skis and boats will be disallowed but I also hope that the residents that have jet ski hoists and blow up rafts anchored will need to remove them along that stretch... I assume that Durand is fair game now except in the designated swimming area, so the party will just move...

This lasted until about 8am when the wind died. In total we had 5 kings in the 10-15lb range, a skippy and a steelehad in that area. 50' and 70' riggers with glow pattern Nk28's and 100' wire with white/green moutain dew spinny/hammer fly combo did the damage. The steel came off a bud light on the surface. Hung around that water until 9am and started north, wandered out toward 250 fow and back in with one laker on a free slider to show for it. Great day on the water. surface break was nothing dramatic but fell from about 47 to 45 degrees from 120-150 fow, so these kings were active just on the inside of the break per usual. Quite a spring already, hope this holds up throughout the season!

Random lakers scattered about all depths a few steelies and two decent kings. Mid teen took a diver at 75' with dw nbk in 160fow and a 23lber took a 10 color core with silver 55 green glow tape in 120fow.. screen wasn't bad but fish were not real active for me today.
