  1. 15 hits boated 13. All lakers. Just south of the State Park. Most hits between 100 and 130. Not a good day for spoons. Every thing came on peanut rigs and rotators and flies. Nothing over around 5#. Fished from 7:30 to 10:30. Great day to be out.

  2. Marked very few fish and caught only one. 7.5 laker on a blue and silver spoon 65 down over 150 . Marked no bait. Hope it gets better before next weekend. Cruised around a little looking for fish. East and west sides 50 to deep water.Tried spoons on riggers, thundersticks on 10 color and flies on dipseys out 200 to 350 on a 3 setting. Fished from the white rock to condos.Any suggestions ?

  3. Hit the Branchport arm Sunday AM. Surface temp 58 to 60. 12 for 14 all lakers. All came deep 120-150. Cowbells with peanuts and wobble trolls were best. Took a few on flashers and flies in green. Mostly a rigger bite but dipseys caught some. # 2 setting at 300 +. Ran some leadcore and boards with no luck. Surprised we didn't do some up high.Seems like we have in years past at this surface temp. Will probably hit Woodville one day this weekend pre fishing the Derby.

  4. A one inch group at 100 yds with a 17 had to be done on a day with absolutely no wind and a very accurate rifle. That little 17 grain bullet is real prone to wind drift. You can't compare a 17 grain bullet at 2550 and a 50 grain bullet at 3600. The 17 is alot less prone to richocets as stated earlier, so it is a better choice where that may be a problem, but you will be giving up alot of range and killing power compared to most any centerfire rifle. It really depends on how you will be hunting coyotes.I would say the 17 is on the extreme light side for a coyote gun and anything above the 243 or 6mm is too much gun.

  5. Real hard to beat the 22-250. Accurate and flat shooting. The 204 takes special cleaning rods and jags and is prone to fouling quicker than the 22-250.I agree the 22 mag and 17 are too small. The 17 is especially light on anything but a rib cage shot at 100 yds and under. All kinds of factory ammo is available for the 22-250 and it is an easy cartridge to reload if you prefer. H380 powder, magnum primers and a 50 or 55 grain bullet will make ant coyote real sick way out there.

  6. It wears the inside of the tire. I have put two on that side and the other tire looks fine. It is only on one side. That is why I think it may be a spindle to axle line up problem. I didn't think about the rim. i could rotate the tires and see what happens. It may help isolate the problem.

  7. One of the tires on my trailer wears out way faster than the other.

Air pressure is checked frequently so I don't feel that's the problem.Seems it must be the spindle in the trailer axle is not lined up correctly. Any suggestions on repair or verifying the problem ?

    Thanks

SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Tough day today. Fish seemed really scattered.More fish and bait in less than 100 ft. Lakers on the bottom if you want to target them.Main reason for the post is a friend of mine left a wire rod and reel propped up against a post in the parking lot at Sandy Creek launch. Just hoping whoever found it would contact me so I can return it. Thanks in advance. My phone # is 814-228-3674

  9. We also tried a little pre derby fishing on Saturday. Fished the North end with little luck. Lost two fish on 10 colors with sutton 44s. Marked some bait right on bottom and a few fish. 70 to 200 feet of water. I seldom fish this lake. Is vine valley on the North or South ? Any advise on browns and rainbows. Better fishing for these on North or South? We'll be there early Sat morning on 68. 19 ft Starcraft Superfisherman with a Merc.

  10. Started in 120 went out to 220. Best luck 190 - 210. Plenty of steelies on sliders and 5 colors lead. Purple and orange wrer good.3 kings biggest about 18.Wire divers with mag ring on 2.5 out 250. Purple and black spoons behind the divers. Couldn't get a hit on a spinny.???. Between 33 and 36 west. Just a quick thanks to Mark ReelJerks. Heard you on 8 today talking to someone else but the info is much appreciated. Should have introduced myself.Wish I would have spoke to you earlier in the day.I would have continued West and worked a little deeper. I don't make that many trips up to Ontario so the site really helps narrow things up for me when I can. Thanks again everyone who contributes to this site. Hope my info helps someone.

  11. Started out in 100 off the white rock. Alot of wind and no takers. Trolled across the lake and north to the condos picking up 2 lakers on a spinny and fly out 125 on # 2 set with a dipsy and copper line. Worked that area north and south taking 3 more, 1 on a rigger down 75 with a peanut and 2 more on the dipsy. Purple seemed to be the color. Usually fish the north end or Keuka. Marked very few fish and some bait. Not a bad day but have had better. Can I sell something now?LOL

  12. Fished the north end to the bluff. Boated seven and dropped another three at the boat. Biggest laker about eight lbs. Most fish came off of boards running shallow and deep jr. thunder sticks with about 100 to 150 foot leads. Set up around 9am and pulled at 2. No bows or browns. Any tips on these ?

    Thanks
