rbonnell thanks for the quick reply, were you just sitting there waiting for me to make this post. LOL.

  2. So the late BP season is does only,is our archery buck or doe tag and our reg.gun buck tag still be good for a buck during the late season?

I know I could check this out with the DEC but I thought it would give us something else to yack about.

And this is for those big old Bunners out there watching this board thinking there safe if they can make it through the reg.gun season, you better dig a deeper hole to hide in.

  3. Got out late Sunday morning to get some perch for myself and take the little one out for a short trip. First cast was a 5lb smallmouth and my son doubled on perch on his first cast. We had to move alot to find good schools. Our last stop was spectacular with several 12-13 inch perch cast after cast. Everyones line but mine anyway.. Several big pickeral. Great few hours on the lake. Had a couple small ones deep hook that we had to keep.

  4. I have a Mercury 6HP 4stroke kicker motor that have stripped lower unit gear oil flat head drain screws. The top drain screw is the problem one because it is recessed, otherwise I could use a pair of vise grips to get it out. Any tool suggestions to get these drain plugs out. I used a grinder on a large screw diver but it is too large to fit in the slot now.

If you still have enought slot left in the screw file your screwdriver down to fit the slot, use a cresent wrench or vicegrips as low or close to the screw as you can and break the screw lose, keep steady pressure on screwdriver so it doesn't slip. hope this helps, it works for me.

  5. I see a lot of potential here. I hope it grows a little but not so much that it becomes a pain like so many of the big fishing contests. The guys that fished it were there for fun, and on that respect, we all came in 1st. Thanks to the father and son that towed us in. Stupid engine!  Thank you Seager, nice job.

What Pequod said, it was a fun thing Seagers has started and I hope it grows in the future, it was a good day to fish, had a good time. Thanks to the fellow fishermen that took the time to come over and see if we needed help and tow us in.May your fish box always be full.

Thanks to the guys at Seagers for taking the time to do the weigh in and feed us Pizza and wings.

               We'll be back. :)

  6. It was 3:30 pm on my way over to the property Dad and I hunt and it was 68 degrees, I definitely didn't expect to see much. I hung this stand in early July between 2 fields. One with soy beans and the other with corn. Tonight was my first sit of the season so I was just looking forward to seeing anything. By 5 o'clock I had a small 6 point and 2 doe, both with twins that all fed through the acorns behind me and out into the bean field. I watched the 4 fawns run and jump around for over a half hour...I was perfectly content on ending my night after that once it got dark. Around 6:15 through all of the rustling leaves from the squirrels and chipmunks, I heard a small twig snap. I slowly turned my head and just saw a massive body. Hoping everything would work out and he would take the same path as the other deer, I grabbed my bow and never looked back again. After what seemed like a half hour but was only about 5 minutes, the buck was quartering away from me into the beans at 30 yards. I only looked at his horns once. I saw he had 5 on his left side. I also saw a really nice, tall 8 point behind him. When I released the arrow I knew I hit him good but he never ran. The bucks body stiffened up and he was leaning to one side as he slowly took a few steps. That's when I saw something I never expected. The tall 8 point circled around and charged the buck I shot, with his head down and drove him right into the dirt and then ran off. This is my biggest buck with a bow or gun. Dad and I are in an archery contest so we brought the deer to weigh it. It dressed out at an even 200lbs, with a 19 3/4" inside spread. It's after midnight and I have to wake up at 4:45 am for work and I'm wide awake! Thanks for reading my story!

  7. Is any one else flustered about the doe only start for archery season? I'm an avid deer hunter above any other hobbies in my life. This year sucks! I limit myself to what I consider a good buck for harvesting and I also shoot does to keep the freezer full. Typically I shoot does when the timing is right, for example the very end of an evening hunt when I don't plan on going back to that stand for at least a week or so. As for worthy bucks, well I'm sure many of you can agree when all of the right things happen to give you an opportunity you take advantage of it! This year I have told myself I can't hunt till buck season opens because I don't think I could refrain from releasing an arrow on a buck of my liking if it happened to present itself!

I don't agree with breaking the rules but it's killing me to sit in my recliner when I could be up a tree and it's only day one of 14 for the waiting game.

    Thanks for reading,

    A frustrated archer!

Well I thank in order for you to refrain maybe you could go hunt a peice of state land where you could shoot a buck if you chose or you could take a nice doe and put it on a BP tag. Get out of that recliner and go hunting.

  8. Looks fine. I thinks it just needs more time to develop.

I think your right, looks like a young buck that hasen't finished growing into a large body and if you let him go two more years he'll be a dandy, thats if he can make it two more years.

  9. Wow you guys have some good stories on gear fumbles!!

Left my bow on top of my explorer after an evening hunt along rt15 in Hemlock. Could not believe it rode up there for 3 miles before the dread came over me...wow and I killed a nice buck with it one week later Nov.4th. Just **** luck it didn't tumble into the road..

Good news ,I cleaned up the cam and straightened the sight. It shot right on without ajustment.

  10. Beat ya to the "old catching up" ....put my bow in its case, latched it, took off my tree harness, took off my jacket, put the quiver and arrows in the cab, made phone call check in. Turned the key and backed out then drove about 100 yards down the road.....CRASH!...WHAT TH!!!...split second later I knew. In the dark it layed there in the road. Left it laying balanced across the back corner of the pickup box. Good thing it was in the case and didn't fall off while backing up.

Case is one of those cheap plastic Plano with the velcro straps. It saved the bow, and the case was not too damaged other than road rash...DUH!

it happens...now I feel better that it wasn't just me..I agree it was OFS!

    old fart syndrome fault!......

They say you can't fix dumb, they may have stumbled onto something.LoL

BuckBoardjr,Gun season years ago we stoped and finished off a wounded doe, did the gut job through her in the truck and drove back to camp and hung the deer,

then the shooter said did you put my gun in the truck and I said I thought you did. :puke: He was lucky his scoped Browning was laying in a cut corn field about 50yds from the road, it was still there.

Now I have to try and salvage my bow, may have to replace the cam.

  11. Don't set your bow on the hood of your truck while you put the other things away!!

I set my compound on the hood and got out my stick bow and left it there,it was dark when I pulled out of my parking spot, first time I hit the brakes the bow hit the blacktop. :( IT'S hard to beleve I didn't see it up there. I bent the hell out of the sight and got some road rash, not sure if I need to replace the cam or not, I'm not happy. I think old is catching up with me.

Just posting this to maybe save someone some grief.

    What Stinger Said. :)

  13. Did you paper tune your bow yet? I shoot 85gr. thunderheads out of my Mathews and after I tuned the bow and the arrows they shoot the same as my field points. Some of those wouldbe speed bows are not forgiving as a little slower bow, Are you shooting the same shafts you shot out of the old bow? I think I should ask how your field points shoot before critize your shooting ability. :)

Hope this help a little. Good luck.

  14. Thanks for the feedback since my last post. I decided on five 1" holes in the bottom of both buckets, 1 in the center and 4 near the edge. I figured if I need more holes I can always drill more holes. If I drill too many holes I have to buy a new bucket.

I used both buckets for drifting in my 19ft boat yesterday. We had a light wind of 5-9 mph and the buckets worked great. I didn't troll with the buckets because I used my 15hp motor for trolling duties.

Thanks again and best of luck out there!

Take your drill with you on the boat, drill and try out till you get what you want for speed. :o
