  3. Hi everyone- I own a 1999 Alumacraft 165 Magnum. The floor has two drains, one in each side in the back. I noticed recently that rain water, or water from my kids climbing into the boat is sitting under those drains and is not making its way down to my bilge and the plug. I pulled up some floor and noticed that the styrofoam under the floor was worn away under one drain. I am wondering if that could be plugging a drain down to the bilge area. Anybody have any experience with this? I have to believe that rain water is supposed to make its way to the bilge...

Have you tryed raising the bow up if its on a trailer to see if the water moves to the bilge?

  4. W.W.IV, Same with me. Trolling the lakes for over 20 years and never tried meat until this year. I have only taken two smaller kings on it so far. Back up in 3 weeks to fish the LOC for a week. My question is, is it better to run with or with out twinkles?? So far I have only taken the 2 kings on clean rigs.

Run one clean and one with twinkies and see what they want, I think its a day to day thing. :)

  5. Mike, I'll give you a PM and the run down..... Swing up to S&R buy 2 familiar bite packs. A big paddle in green/glow.

Steve, I've got two glow green paddles 11", I'll pick up the meat. The weather looks a little shaky the next few days for my boat, like to see the Tcline comes up a little so I don't have to go so far out.

  6. We decided to try a different port this time out , first time to I-bay .The better half and I headed out  at 5am to the 150 water where we found ice water, 42 degrees in front of the smoke stacks and trolled northeast , riggers started firing right off , 55& 65 ft. down , moo moo cut bait rig with familiar bite Herring was the winner for sure but wire dipsy out 225 with  white /green flasher and Pro- am fly was the other good producer as well . Boxed out with Kings 8- 17 pounds , two Lakers 12 and 15 pounds and some skippys that were sent back all before 9:30 . Bite died down after that and the  jet skis started coming out so we headed in , fun  morning for us !

Have to give all the LOU members a big thank you for all the freely shared information as it surely takes a lot of the learning curve out of this big lake fishing .

    Mike

Is there stacks in frount of IBay ? Maybe I haven't been paying attention. :(

  7. First off a huge thank you to the boys for putting on another outstanding tournament. I've been apart of it from the start and its already penciled in for next year.

Pre fished Fri. Night and knew where NOT to go!!! 5 hours in the water and never moved a rod.

The weeks before the SCS told me where I needed to be and they where still there.

The memories will last forever, read "Rigged SCS" for the whole run down.

When you get a quad on majors and land them all it going to be a special trip!

Finished 2nd place and also finished 2nd in the LOC with a #27.15 kung that came from the same waters !

     good job.

  8. well I did lock up on 2 steelhead out of Barcelona over the weekend.  Hit a HogWild spoon and a CedarPoint Bayrat.  They came up high, in really warm water.....like 73 degrees.  I was shocked.  I just dont understand those fish

You can find steelies feeding on bugs along scum lines in warm water, run flat lines with smaller spoons off boards around the edges.

  9. After yesterdays experience they could well be kings  as we pulled two from just above bottom in 100 ft of water.

I did the same thing yesterday out of IBay, ran a green silver spinny with a white atomic fly just off bottom down 100 in 110fow but I came up with lakers. I had a newbie on the boat and I had to get him someing, was out in 350fow and got one started on the diver and would you know the wire broke, must have had a kink in it. :puke:

  10. The spindle is shot I think a new axle might be the way to go

Sent from my C811 4G using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I had to replace the axle on mine last year, got one at Farm and tractor. the bearing race was welded to the spindle. Cost about $250 for everything

If You change the axle yourself make sure your squre it up with the trailer or you will destroy your tires.

  11. Well today we left dock at 6am being my keys for my cabinet lock broke off in it this morning so had to wait for a set of bolt cutters. Anyhow we decided to stay close to Irondequoit and head straight out the chute. That we did and set down in 150 dropped 2 wires and 2 riggers. I wanted to put out the copper but it was a bit to choppy for my liking and turns out we didn't need it. As soon as we broke 250 fow it was on. We couldn't keep a single rod in the water, as soon as we get one King in another rod would fire and then get everything set back and another would fire. Everything took fish, Big Wheenie board with Meat, Green Dot Spinny with 42nd St. Atomik Fly, spoon in mags colors were any Tuxedo with Green in them. Northeast troll slow speed only 2.3 at ball, wires out 300-315, I found 46* temp at exactly 100 down so we stuck with it and it paid as we went 13 for 16 and only 3 Lakers. The ones we lost we absolute screamers ripping line and wire out like I haven't seen in a long time. Wish we could have seen them but our biggest was 14#. It's always fun especially when I have my daughter on board as well, she hears that line ripping out and say Hell No this one is yours I am not reeling that in. She is funny but hangs in there. Wish I had photos but was way to fast and furious to stop to take any. Always next time though.

WE worked the same water out to 225fow friday night, found same temp.,fished same pattern and depth and never marked a thing. worked around at that depth for a while and headed in, hit

     a skippy at 160fow.

Glade you you hit them and had a great day. :)

  12. Pulled out of the lauch about 4:30 PM,ran out to 80fow stoped and checked temp. 55deg.down to about 60ft. then hight 40ies to to the botom. Setup two riggers two wire divers and seven color core down the shoot, worked out to 225fow, never moved a rod or marked any fish. Pulled the wires and  checked temp at 225fow.cold water from 75ft. down. Reset divers and riggers 75 to90ft, still a clean screen, sun is getting low started back in,at about 160fow hook up on diver, shaker king , released

Thats all folks.Beautiful Evening.good company, what more could you want. :)

  13. I'm just glad the stars finally aligned and we were able to get out together. Wondering if Tom L. is cursing you for not bringing him along. Damn that thing looks bigger and bigger EVERY time I look at the picture !!!

Way to go Steve, two dandys

    :)

  14. Maybe a mini crash.  From Late 80's to early 90's fishing got tougher.  Fishermen had to adjust tactics.  Now less fish........but better fishermen!

If I remember right in the middel to late seventies the mooneye population crashed due to cold winters and over stocking, the DEC cut back stocking and on top of that they started testing the fish for heavy metal-mercury and said the fish were not safe to eat and that nearly shut the hole thing down.I thought the fishing was good in the late eighties till the middle nineties.I chartered out of Sodus bay from 89-97 and the fishing was good, the west end boys were taking limit catches daylie,I didn't limit out that often but got enought to keep the clints happy. Some time in the early early or middle 90ieswe got a heavy snow storm, over 2' and the next day it turned to rain and flooded the hole state, the fishing went bad that season, the fish were there but they wouldn't bit. I had a multiclector by Lake systems on my boat for down temp and speed and it showed the PH of the water and color. I noticed the PH was around 4.5,thats not good, it should be around 7. My next trip we went looking for a better or higher PH, so we went out deep700fow and if I remember we were 0n the 55bar Lat. Lon. that was all most to the fence and the PH was up and the fish were feeding. I was talking to an other capt. out of Fairhaven that hit the same bar that day and it wasen't long the word was out and every one was out there. Anyone remember that.

About 95 it all **** the bed. Sold the boat. Hey its back. :)
