Fished this morning from 6 to 11:00 Went 5 for 7.  2 browns, 2 kings and 1 laker.   It was slow picking...nothing fast paced.  No color preferences it was a mix of spoons and stick baits.  No color standing out.  We had to find the mud line and warmer water.  Fished from 15 to 25 fow.

Here is our biggest brown.

Does anyone know the dates?

I use smelly jelly or herring oil.  I have caught fish with and without using it, but I use it more often than not, to cover human scent.

What's more important is the antenna.  Buying a good antenna is a must!

We run the pike bobber on copper.  This setup is our down the chute copper.    It allows the line to be up out of the water in the chute area.  We run it back 75 to 100ft or more if needed to land fish.

 

I converted my t4 to a wireless system using winch control remotes.

What about the panther t4.  I use this on my kicker and it steer easily into 2-3 waves.

I have an '89 Thompson....stringer are great, however, had to get transom redone.   As Tim B said above, this is a great fishing platform.

T. I just cant be tied to the helm when we are setting rods and fighting fish. It has gotten very old if you know what I mean.

Yes, not being tied to the helm is a big plus! 

I have the panther t4 setup.  I have no complaints with it, however, in my opinion you will still need one person to have the fishing  rod and one to steer...so that's 2 people in the boat.  On days that are calm, you can get by fishing alone with it.

It cannot set a course like auto-pilot...the only downside, but I don't fish alone so it doesn't bother me.  For now, I am using the wired remote that came with it and have no problem with the cord getting in the way.

Yes, math in fishing.  However, I think the lateral distance and horizontal distance are the same in this diagram.  As the dipsey pulls away from the boat it creates the lateral/horizontal distance where it is parked (so to speak).

Here is a sketch of my thoughts...please imagine the triangle relationship better than I could draw below.

So with the following angles of the dipsey rod wire and the vertical line depth, and the distance of wire line out, I came up with the following numbers:

I never really was concerned about distances out from boat, but it was interesting to see these numbers.

Wow!  The obsession now begins! 

Pap, take a look at the pdf from adventure marine...it explains the difference between the 3100 and 4100 on page 7.  It all comes down to weight.  I waited until I could afford the high thrust bracket and kicker because I only wanted to do this once.

I know what you mean as for the kicker being the emergency motor.  I had an issue with my big motor and the kicker saved my day.  I will not own another fishing boat without a kicker!

Ray did you get the high thrust one or the reg. one, it looks like you have a long shaft kicker, do you think with the motor mounted that low a short shaft would work? I have a 15 short shaft.

I got the high thrust model and my kicker is the extra long shaft.  Pap, I am not sure what kind of boat you have and your mounting locations, so I couldn't say about length of shaft.

This is how I installed the adventure marine bracket that Sk8man pictured.

I used through bolts with a plate on inside of transom.
