  1. We put in at Sampson’s mid morning and trolled for a few hours. Nothing but weeds and flea’s. Ran three Spin docks with flys, a green lake troll with peanut and a spoon up high. Screen looked decent in front of the marina but no action. Anyone do anything this morning? We will be back at it tomorrow. We are the vintage tan/brown Lund.

  2. Custom flashabou fly Big Weenie tied up for me last fall. It's one of those flies you're either gonna love or hate.

I think it's gonna be smokin hot! We know Stripers, bluefish and lake trout like it. but the salmon have not seen it yet.

Coastal Stripers or lake? We fish the Hudson in the spring but I have never thought of trying a flasher and fly for them. Do have any experiance with this?

  3. Walleye can be kind of tough. We catch them right in with the rainbows while trolling spoons close to the bottom structure (30-35 fow) Ive never seen anything with any size come out of there but have caught a few over 20". Seems like we catch a lot around 15-16". I think someone could do pretty well drifting live bait on structure but ive never tried it.

  4. Do you guys use flasher and flies on the finger lakes just like on Lake Ontario? I havent done any fishing on the finger lakes but I do some on Sacandaga lake for Rainbows but have never had any luck with flashers. I have some dodgers and spin doctors to use with normal great lake flies. I tried and 8" flasher with a smaller salmon fly once without any hits. I also have some Lake Clear wabblers but never have any faith in running them. I do much better with Mooslook wabblers and Michigan Stinger Scorpions.

  6. Ray thanks for the info. I figured someone would have an idea to shorten the learning curve. I think I saw a video on either here or GLAngler that showed to take some of the lead out of the sheath and slip the mono in and tie a knot where the mono is in the sheath. Thanks again.

  7. Can I use mono for a backer on a SWR with say 2 colors on it?

Also, new fishfinder is comming today. When I mount the transducer do I want it below the hull on the transom or even with the hull?

    Thank you

  8. What is the best fishfinder/gps combo that I can buy for under $500? I am trading my boat for a smaller boat but I dont want to give up the gps and just go with a basic fishfinder. I do a lot of lake trolling and get out on Lake O a few times a year and the GPS is key for me with speed and the navigation. I am not brand loyal. Let me know guys.

    Thanks

  9. Took the fiance and my mother out for a vacation/ fishing trip. The weather coopertated with us for the most part. We did alright Saturday morning going 3/5 with two kings and a walleye. The kings were 22lbs and 14lbs. The walleye was about 8 lbs and something that we didnt expect to catch. All fish came in 120fow about 55-60 down. The walleye came on a full core off the board on a watermelon mag. The kings were both on a 28 wahoo behind a green spin doc. Saturday evening the waves picked up and the ladies didnt want to get tossed around out there so we had a nice camp fire. Sunday morning greated us with some nice weather til we hit 100fow and the waves kicked up. Mom actually got sick and it didnt bring us any luck. Didnt hear of anyone getting much on Sunday, although I heard that the guys that ran really deep killed them. Good luck to all and we will be back in a month.

  10. Ive probably seen it and never realized. Thanks for the responses. Spent the morning looking at new boats. The internet is the best way to check them out and not feel like you really need one. The salesman at the warehouse got me onboard a Sea Fox 216WA. Very nice boat with a hard top and what not. Now that I was on it and able to play with all the cool stuff hes got me hooked. Might have to talk the little lady into it. Good lukc to all.
