  1. Doesn't sound like there is much inside of 400 fow right now. Great bite out deep though and temp is a little higher
  2. For those of you that have been jonsing for salmon action this summer there has been a good salmon bite off i-bay in 500 fow. 80 - 120 down. Meat has been good as well as various spoons. Sunday was good, last night was awesome! All year classes out there.
  3. Most teenagers are next years mature fish and won't stage this year. They will stay out in the open lake feeding.
  4. Start in 80-100 FOW and point North. Seems there are fish from 100FOW to 400+ right now. 200-250 was decent (not great) for us last Sunday. Keep an eye on the graph.
  5. If you are seeing alot of unclipped fish migrating to places like the Genny or Burt in the Fall where you know there is very limited to zero natural reproduction I would be suspicious as well.
  6. Fish Hawk is a must, especially in the Summer. Don't need to go crazy on spoons or spin docs initially (easy to do). Get muliple spoons (2-4) in a few differnet color patterns. Downriggers first, then dipseys, then copper/lead core IMO.
  7. Tomorrow from 8am to 10am the Monroe County Conservation Council is hosting a kids fishing derby in Power Mill Park (north side). They recently stocked a couple thousand nice browns and have closed the area to fishing and will open it at 8am tomorrow for the kids. No sign up or registering neccessary...just show up ready to fish. There will be 3 prizes, largest boy, largest girl, and largest fish overall. Sorry for the late notice, but better late then never I guess.
  8. Good, safe launch. Slippery Sinker is a great tackle shop and walking distance from the launch.
  9. Set up in 50-75 FOW and go north from there. Water depth changes fairly quick between 50 and 300ft, Keep an eye on surface temps and your graph. If temps start to drop more than a couple degrees stay on the warmer side of the break. If you are marking fish, try and keep your spread near the marks. Kings generally are caught >20ft below the surface all the way down to 100ft or more. Shouldn't have to put your rigs deeper than 100ft to find kings, although some folks like to fish super deep (100+) for larger kings this time of year down there. Coho/steelhead can be found in the top 20ft. I like to troll fairly fast keeping lure speed between 3-3.5mph. Use cores, dipseys, riggers. As a general rule, lead from downrigger ball to lure should decrease as you go deeper, i.e 20ft down 50-75ft, 60ft down 10-15ft. Any trolling spoon with some green/silver in it should work 90% of the time. You can try spoons with orange or pink in them if you are targeting coho/steelhead in the top 20ft. These are just general guidelines to follow which should get you some fish. Hope this helps and let us know how you make out. DR
  10. Wilson - 100%. Rochester sounds good too
  11. Why fix it if it ain't broken....just saying If you can't catch kings these days it is the conditions not for a lack of kings. Putting more kings in the lake would not help the poor fishing we had down at Niagara this Spring. I fished the late 80s and 90s when stocking was higher and alewife populations were insane. Catch rates were actually worse for me back then. I remember the Spring and Fall fishing being excellent but the Summer fishery was dismal. Seems like we have a good balance right now. Couple observations that seem to contradict an over abundance of bait: 1. No 40lb kings like there used to be. 2. Catch rates are at a all time high. My two cents
  12. Not great. Some rain today so that may help
  13. Fished the bar today and didn't see any ice
  14. is the boom fully out now? cant imagine there is much ice left at this point? looks like river water has warmed up recently as well. thanks in advance for any info on this
  15. Wilson Boatyard not listed as a weigh station for the LOC Derby on the LOC site. Anybody know if this is true?
  16. Any repair shops near Rochester? Broke the lever that engages/disengages the spool
  17. Is the 1K/day tourney included in the "no fishing in canada" rule? Was thinking about getting in to that tourney for the week but plan on fishing in Canada.
  18. Was either the Spring of 1995/96 when there was a late release. Ice was still coming out of the river almost all the way down to Wilson. Fished on the edge of the flow and caught laker after laker, couple steelies. No kings to be found.
  19. Thanks all. So you are mainly fishing near shore with boards for Kings down there? I called the Ontario Natural Resources number from Paul. They gave me a number for the "Simplied Cell Phone Reporting for Private Boaters in Border Waters" and said we need to call that number before entering Canadian waters and report in. Also, need passport/enhanced license as well as outdoor card & conservation license. Didn't make it seem too difficult. Thanks again, DR
