Voltage and amperage are two different animals. I can put 8 D cell  volt batteries in a series and get 12 volts , not going to start your engine . A multimeter is pretty much useless in giving you the actual condition , it's all about the amps . How many amps does your starter draw ?  I have a good idea , do you ?

As stated  the batteries are out of the boat   The starter and starting have never been an issue. I wanted to check the condition of the batteries before trouble starts. A fully charged battery at rest should read 12.6 volts or higher   I was getting low voltage readings on 1 multimeter and good readings on another. Now have a new multimeter that verified the low reading meter was junk   I bought a load test battery tester.  It shows good batteries. The stud problem was loose nuts. Tighten them up and it’s all good. Starter draw is an indication of starter condition. Wear on end bearings , worn brushes , starter drive.  No two will have the same value.

  2. Here’s something interesting   I pulled my batteries in the fall and have them inside. I always put them on charge to get them up to the top. I got a reading on a multimeter that showed both batteries needed replacing. I used a different multimeter and got good resting voltage. So I bought a battery tester ( should have one anyway )  now the good part. I tested both batteries using the studs  said replace on both.  I retested using the posts and both batteries tested good. Did test twice to verify   I use the posts for starting and the studs for electronics   Go figure. The $35 dollar tester saved me $200 +

  3. 3 bad batteries? Doubtful. Have you checked your charging system?  The voltmeter ( digital , not the boat instrument ) should read 13.5-14.5 volts while engine is running   The battery at rest ( after losing surface charge ) should be at least 12.6 volts.  You may have a dead short somewhere , drawing the battery down. Just a thought, I had a new Lowrance sonar that had a different shutdown procedure from my previous unit. I thought it was off , when in fact it was not. Next time at the launch. Dead batt.  I now carry a jump pack in my vehicle at all times   Hope you get to the bottom of this matter.  Your life could depend on it.   Another thought. Do you have a battery switch ?  I installed one after my sonar screwup. Turn all electrics off and isolate battery after each trip.

Spfd - yes, please finally do some honest research & enlighten us.  Some would appreciate hearing facts rather than hearing Tucker, Shaun, Beibert or Putin propaganda repeated over, over and over again.

  5. Lmao. Criminals are not allowed by law to OWN weapons , let alone carry concealed   There goes that point

who stopped cash bail ?  Criminals are back on The streets in hours , committing the same crimes ,over and over  so much for that one.

a red wave would have stopped Brandon’s destruction of this country.  It is what it is

Kathy hookie will have to be stopped in the courtroom   Civil disobedience is just beginning in this country. We need way less federal government  Florida has the right idea  sovereignty

  6. Is there any doubt in anyones mind about what part of NY state controls the politics and policies in NY state ??  Look at the map by county   red voted for Zeldin. blue voted for Hookie   NY needs to be split into two separate states. Upstate NY and Downstate NY   Never going to happen. But it should

QUESTION to you guys,   this post is really putting the fear in my next outing with my STX's

has anyone replaced the steel cable with , for example, Power-Pro braid 200#?

My question really is, will the "short-stop" still work with the braid ?

    No

  8. I agree the blacks are great releases  the only problem is running them on a probe rigger  I want my bait above the probe  I use roemers on the probe rigger. The Scottie’s are good releases for sooons and 8 “ flasher/ fly. Trying to run larger flashers and meat behind them is tough. There is also a light and heavy setting on the Scottie’s. Slide the plastic clip that the tether is attached to toward the release for heavy and away for light

What does this have to do with 2nd amendment rights anyway ? Can someone explain ? I assumed it was the tax on hunting and fishing licenses...duck stamps etc. Etc. Does this tax apply when you buy guns and ammo?..?

Sent from my LM-V450 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

P-R act placed an 11 % tax on long guns , ammo and archery equipment  and a 10% tax on handguns. The monies collected MUST be used for outdoor programs

  11. There are two different species of flea. The spiny water flea and the fishhook flea. The fish hooks are the hardest to get off your line. They are tenacious. They also smell worse than the spinys

Spiny and fishhook waterfleas prefer large, deep, clear lakes, but can also be found in shallower waters. Spiny waterfleas move to deeper, cooler waters during the day and swim towards the water surface at night to feed, while fishhook waterfleas stay near the surface

this is a problem for us fisher people,  we fish deep for the salmonids , so we are in spiny flea territory , but our lines cut through the top layers and into fishhook territory. Hate the critters

Had this same issue several years ago.  Yes it is aging infrastructure but last time it was mismanagement as well.

I don't get it.  Chuck Schumer will have his face in front of a camera for anything.   He should have brought the pork home on this one the last time this happened.  Niagara Falls is a world wonder and should be treated with respect.

I wish Up Chuck Shumer would go over the falls. Without a barrel

  13. Also, keep in mind that just because your sonar is telling you that your bait is at 100 ft depth , it’s NOT   Your depth finder is actually a distance finder   It’s showing your weight at 100 , that’s 100 ft from the transducer , not 100 ft depth. Because of blowback , you may need to let out a lot more cable to actually reach 100 ft depth.

And I believe by law any fellow boater is by law responsible to assist a distressed boat

In the United States, a federal statute (46 U.S. Code sec. 2304) requires the master of any vessel subject to U.S. jurisdiction to “render assistance to any individual found at sea in danger of being lost,” so long as the assistance can be rendered without endangering the rescuing vessel or individuals on board. This law is a part of an international treaty (the International Convention on Salvage, 1989) which extends the obligation to mariners throughout the world. The statute includes criminal penalties that may include jail time for failing to render assistance.
