  1. Hi. I posted this on the panfish forum too but thought it might be good to post it here as well? I Just moved to Farmington area and have been focused mostly on teaching my little girl to fish the last few years.  she turns 4 in August. it is going very well so far and she has really been into it and we go at least once most weeks, but looking to expand a little bit, get her into some perch and bigger bluegills and other stuff a little this year and a couple additional boat trips under her belt - plus since the kids it is pretty hard to get the boat out.  Canandaigua lake is very close but i have never fished it for panfish, only honeoye and conesus for panfish.  at her age, long trips in the car and then fishing is a little tough but honoye is still reasonable and actually closer than it use to be but hoping we might get into some decent panfishing in canandaigua and was looking for some feedback on if it can be okay for panfish and if anyone had any pointers on water depth to target this time of year in that lake if going for bluegill or perch?

    Thanks,

    Eric

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

    thanks to the guys who gave me some info on the pump house location out of Sandy, got into a double of kings right away(11 and 16.5 lbs) that was a lot of fun and had decent action all morning. i don't get out much but everyone's reports have helped me get on fish each time. just running two riggers with SD and fly's and free sliders and two dipseys with spoons. had a little drag problem that resulted in a bad spurt of losing some nice fish - had a line break, a swivel straighten, and a spoon hook snap off. got that fixed, good learning experience. feeling good for my 4th time on the lake out my small boat. 16.5 is the biggest for my boat so far so that was great. hope to break it again next time. mostly ran green white and blue colors. thinking about switching to fixed sliders next time but the free sliders have been producitve so far so I'm not sure yet.

  4. Awesome report!

    which direction is the pump house from the creek? just started fishing sandy creek(1 time last year, and 2 times this year) last year so it is pretty new to me and i can't locate any info on the pump house in my searches? just hoping for a east or west direction, though i usually stay in front of the creek cause i only have a 14 ft boat so i don't crazy going to far.

  5. you know what, i didn't know what it was but i pulled a baitfish out of the same belly and i was wondering it was because of the shape of the head, it was only a little digested so you could make out pretty decent details. i just did a quick search and i think it was a sculpin or something very similar so that would make sense.
