  1. I am trying to find out what are the best modifications to be made to double keel otter boats. I have run a set lately with a full and a half keel, with the loop at 10" in the front and 14" in the back. They seem to run fine with spring baits. I will probably only run 2 coppers off of them at the most. Any thoughts???

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS WOW! If you have not been out fishing, GET THERE! The bite is as good as i can ever remember in my 35yrs of angling the big pond. It doesnt matter which way you go out of the river, or just stay there as i did sunday am. In the 4 trips i ran from friday to sunday we had at least from what i could keep track of 151 bites and landed 123. The people were amazed at the crazy action that we had. 2 were pike, 1 10lb walleye, 1 atlantic and 2 kings. (lost 3 other kings)The rest were browns, biggest was pushing 14lbs. The seems to have been a few salmon around friday and sat. I fished for the salmon on sunday and never had one on or seen very many on the screen like the days before. The brownies sure made up the difference. There are a ton of cookie cutters to weed through to get the bigger fish. Thats a good problem. The best bait? Black and silver, fire tiger, gobie all sticks, one small split on them. Riggers at 7 by 30 was the hottest with the malatto spoon. This week looks crappy to fish which should keep the fish chewing this weekend and then some. Good luck.

    ====================

  4. I believe they have been plying thier waters for the sharks for so many years, that the brownies have a excellant chance of growing old and large. Not to mention many ports and thier structure is hard to fish for the browns. But yet the fish thrive on that same structure with all the bait especially gobies. They also have many deep flowing bays, rivers, etc. I am sure we have some hogs wallowing around out there on the big O no doubt.

    My first trip we went west and all kind of color, too much with no good water in sight. I didnt think the east wind blew that hard the day before. Picked our stuff motored 14 miles east set up and caught fish. We ended up working from webster to i bay with perfect water. 40 to 42 degrees. The group had 26 bites and landed 14, they were hitting light that day.All were browns. 3 were good and the rest were juniors. (good sign for future) Black and silver as well as gold were the best sticks. All in all it was pretty good considering we started fishing round 10ish and ended at 3. We need this cool down, the lake is getting warm quick. The river is 56 degrees. Good luck. Oh yea the most important of all, everything ran and worked well.

  6. In the OO size; 2-silver 1-green 1-yellow 1-red 1-white 1-clown 1-orange and yellow

    In the O size; 10-green 2-yellow 5-white 4-yellow/white 6-yellow 3-red 3-green/glow 9-silver 4-silver/glow 2-green/silver plus as a bonus; 14 bait heads, and 2 harness also 5 baitbusters. Baitbusters are a alternative to cut bait. You pull them apart (velcro) put scent in them, put em back together with the curl and action you want. They work, i just have too many. Call 585-750-3164 with questions.

  7. I was disappointed in the answers they gave to the questions that were asked. One they wouldnt let me ask is, why are they putting all this effort in researching the wild kings. We all know the answer(to cut back on the stocked fish) but they wont come out and tell us that. Why? The wild fish are just a bonus at this point and it would be nice to keep it that way. Especially after all the eye up % of eggs this year and only ONE hatchery. I want to go to meeting someday and hear everything is perfect for numbers, health, dec staff etc etc. Just my thoughts.

  8. Nothing but doom and gloom as usual. Well at least they are on top of the stocking program,,,NOT. So lets see, no lakers, the salmon numbers will be down,again, and oh yea the browns are sick, there wont be enough of those either. WTF, are you kidding me! We will be searching for other opportunities,so they say. It is the way it is, so sad, why because that how it has been and always will be, untill we have options ourselves, such as another hatchery and even then they will somehow manage to mess things up. As a buisness owner and a fisherman i find it very frustrating that we cant do a damn thing about fishery, no matter how much cackling goes on. Just my thoughts.
