  1. Heading up to Oswego for the weekend, and bring a couple of guys for there

first time. With all the reports it should be great fishing, but if we would have to fall back to the harbor or river, whats the best fishing going on there. I know we have fished for Sheep head with light tackle & jigs and shads in the river. I can't remember what time of year that was, but they did fight great. Any help, Thanks Ron

  2. Sorry we didn't a chance to meet ya sea squirrel, all in all we had a good time. I always look for Musky Bob when we are up, but didn't see him either. We did see Home Office and his better half, great talking to ya.

[We didn't due the best in deep water, caught 2 small steelies ( 95 to 140 ) and a small coho at 214 ft on a copper line. We switched over to browns sat nite and went 3 for 7. Nothing big 3-5 pound range, but nice looking fish. The bite time was 6 30 to 9pm, All on spoons ( chicken wing, kevorian, goblin -the brown bait fish one) Used Wolervine spoons for the first time, they did good !! No bite from 9-11 pm, was to tired to fish any later.

The ludington clown spoon did good for the trout.

The trout bite was all in about 13-17 fow just east of oswego, up to the first cove.

Running boards and 175 to 125 back. For a beginner, luv the web site, and over the years hope to meet all of ya . That includes us fishing with RAY one day!!

Good luck in the derbys and hope to be up fishing by the end of the summer. Ron

  3. HEY GUYS

TAKING THE KIDS UP THIS WEEKEND, SEE THE BROWNS MOVED OUT. HOW IS THE WALLEYE/NORTHERN/ BASS BITE ?? HAVE NOT REALLY SEEN ANY REPORTS..

WE WILL TRY THE SALMON, BUT IF CAN'T KEEP THE KIDS ACTIVE, WE'LL LOOK TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER FISH ( SOMETIMES THE SHEEPHEAD COME IN HANDY).

ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED, ( WILL BUY THE COFFEE AND DOUGHNUTS), WE WILL BE OUT OF OSWEGO 6/19-22.

    SEE YA ON THE WATER..

  4. A California courtdecided in 2006 that the EPA should be accountable for ballast water regulations. As a result, the EPA announced across-the-board rules for large commercial ships and pleasure craft alike

The same court that allows GAY MARRIAGES, even tho the people of that state voted against it. THE LIBERIAL LEFT WING JUDGES WHO MAKE THERE OWN RULES ARE GOING TO SEND THIS COUNTRY DOWN THE TUBES. I vote repub just for this kind of issue. We need to vote for people who will defend the sportsmen of this country, or we might not need our boats, because we won't have fishing or hunting either.

  5. GOTTA AGREE WITH GOKUDL3

30# BRAID IS THE WAY TO GO,

TRIED SUFFIX #30 THIS YEAR AND WAS HAPPY WITH THE LINE.

REMEMBER YA HAVE TO RESET THE RELEASES AFTER SWITHING FROM

MONO TO BRAID, BRAID SEEMS TO PULL OUT EASIER.AND KEEPING HEAVY MONO OR FLUORO FOR LEADERS 80% OF MY RODS ARE GOING TO BRAID

THATS MY TWO CENTS WHICH ISN'T WORTH A PENNY ('')

    GOOD LUCK FISHING THIS YEAR.

  6. We tried alittle bit for walleye sat. nite, but gave up after about an hour..

the water in the river was high and moving, the temp was around 53 degrees

in the habor. didn't hear of anyone catching them over the weekend, but the guys on this site will be able to give you a clear picture where to fish them.('8)')

we caught more coho's than browns, out about 20-40 fow east of the habor. Did pick up a 27" steelhead just out side the far wall. Thats was nice for my first steely. good luck, hit it hard and you should catch alot..

  7. Great knot page, for the guys who are bad at knots- like me.

Mark , found the the reeljerks fishing videos the other nite,

well done, you don't hammer them like that all the time do ya??

  8. Oswego's ramp and park is very nice, plus if it is rough you have the habor and river to fish. thats a big thing with a 16 footer. we fished a 19 ft in rough water its no pinic. we now have a 23 ft,< THAT BOAT MUCH BIGGER ('')

Also port ontario is ok for smaller boats, the ramp is steep. But again you have the river and mouth to fish. Sodus Bay is another place to fish in a smaller boat when the lake is rocking.. Henderson bay we are going up to fish this year, but hear is pretty nice. and its only about an hour up.

  9. Nice looking combo

Had good luck with the greens, whites and good old monkey puke ( my favorite, don't ask why) Really like the black and silver halo fly, anyone

used these with good results?? This will be only our third year on the lake,

although spent many wading in the rivers. Hope this is our best year.. Thanks Ron

  10. THANKS FOR THE INPUT(':D')

Still thinking with going with the cannons. Will the cannons positive ion, affect

a sub troll 900 if ran off the same rigger wire?? It seems to be the fishing consense that it is better to have a positive ion field coming off your boat.

The nuggets story got both me and my buddy when we read that. OUCH

Probally won't switch over til the summer, gonna run dipsies and lead core

for trout. lures and add on weight for walleyes.

  11. Hey Gambler

Do you think the reg ones make any big difference? Was looking to buy the lehr jensen lake troll flasher, was going to try it with a dipsy and a spoon. Also it says it good for trout, any truth to it. Have a may 4,5,6th trip planned. Trout in the morning, maybe salmon in the afternoon and walleye at night.

    Thanks Ron

  12. Caught one last year in the salmon river by the mouth. Had no clue what it was!! Took pictures and released it. Mine was smaller than yours and fought very hard. Thats looks like a nice size one, are they common and what should you do with them??
