  2. It is a cutterhead type dredge and pump system.  The pipe carries the sand slurry back to the breakwall.  According to the project manager for USACE, who I spoke with yesterday, the dredging will be completed by July 1 if they can maintain  schedule.  They will still be working on completion of the breakwalls, and the on completion of an area of emergent marsh being built where there has especially bad damage to the marsh.  The they are done.  Maintenance of the project and "channel" is Town of Greece responsibility after construction completion.
So you're speaking with Ms. Hunt from the USACE ...? The taxpayers have foot the bill now it's up to the town of Greece, to fix it !!!! Let see if they step up.
My bet is she'll be closed up within 6 months.
    Great duck hunting though

  3. Roll Call...... How many people are going to hit something in a marked channel before its a tragic event and there an injury or a death.
$2600 dollars, a 4 blade SS prop and shaft with bearings.
I already went to court and was told I should bring the Town of Greece to court bye a city judge. After all the contractors are not responsible for there half ass work

This issue sure gets a lot of attention for being over 40 years old.

40 years old....... ????? Almost 5 million of federal monies was just use to "Improve" the marshlands in and around the bay. Now when they dumped hundreds of yards of rock across the opening to the lake and force the public into the old train trestle and tell you "be careful"  there's steel sticking up just under the surface !!!!!! THAT'S NOT OLD.  We used to be able to slide through the sand , maybe stir up some mud but never any damage. Now folks are gouging boats, wrecking lower units, and folding props.  Be careful my ARSE

I spoke to the town, they are saying that it’s the marina’s job to take care of the channel.

Also was the steel in the marked channel?

The US Army Corps of Engineers...Officer Brian Steils contracting officer knows, Ms. Sheila Hint  the Project Manager of the Us Army Corps knows, The Wesson Group from Johnstown, NY  the contractor awarded the Restoration project knows. Gibbs Marine Group knows, they started the dredging,  knows. The Daniele family owns the marina and has warned everyone about the conditions entering exiting the channel knows and the Town of Greece says it's NOT there problem !!!

I already tried to get reimbursed for damages to my boat (small claims) and was told by a city judge I brought the wrong party to court, guess it's time to bring the town in front of a Judge.... sure that will go over well !?!?

And FYI the US Coast Guard Station Rochester was made well aware that there is a dangerous situation at Braddocks Bay

I was out a week ago Monday. Going out, no problem, stayed on my saved gps plot from last fall. Coming back in, my 17 foot tin boat with the top and side curtains up got hit with a gust of wind from the North East, and pushed me off course to the West. Before I could correct, I slid into the mid channel debris and hit the steel that's just below the water... ( it had a buoy marking it last fall)  Ended up with a 14ft. gouge along the bottom of the hull, a sheared off rivet, and a snapped off Airmar P66 transducer.  I've made repairs and am good to go, but may run out of the Genny until they  dig the debris out.... not worth risk with a light boat.

and your OK with this.... ????    The channel isn't safe for navigation !!!!  The town of Greece should be paying for every ones damages as they already know of this dangerous condition.

Too bad this thread can't be sent to a responsible legislator. Obviously there is a real problem there that needs to be corrected. It is unfortunate that it seems to take threatened or activated lawsuits after injuries to get attention and correction to things like this now days.

I will gladly take it to whom ever will resolve the issues....... In the mean time maybe the media would like to start the ball rolling ???
