  1. Tonight I had a six pointer tending and grunting a yearling doe. Second cycle may be starting
  2. To those of you that customize your lures, can you spray over the counter fluorescent spray can paint on rapalas without causing a bubble reaction? What would you clear coat it with? Thanks.

This one pulled the board back better than any walleye we caught. This was the only “junk” fish we caught. All told we caught 29 walleye in 11 hours of trolling. Nothing over 6 lbs

A little hitchhiker that got a nitecrawler meal before flying the rest of the way across the lake

You might be a redneck if you fillet walleye off the back of a truck at a motel 6 while using an extension cord to charge your boat batteries

Four hours of trolling today over the same water. Wierd 5’ ocean rolller waves brought in some clean water over night and morning which made the bite more challenging until we found a piece of stained water. Still able to scratch out 11 walleye before hitting the road. Great trip, no derby fish but lots of fillets. JOB charters pulled out with us today out of Marblehead and showed us their clients 12 lb er that would have placed second in derby but was caught one hour too late after the scales closed.

……well, the boy’s “naps” are going on three hours lol. Doesn’t look like we are going nite trolling. One last kick at the can tomorrow.

Fished today off Kelly’s island and did really well. We threw back some fish to keep our limit open for the nite bite. Best bait was chartreuse scatter rap taildancer flatlined 100-120’ back on outside board. Inside boards caught with two ounces 70/40 with Bandits, Rumble B’s, and Bombers. Slide diver with Northport Wild thing went a few times, rigger a few times and zero on bottom bouncer. What a great fishery. The graph was full all day.
  10. First year was great as you can imagine. Now it is just any other piece of state land. Guy on the NW corner is Amish. He and his two boys are always walking the hill. Like any state land if you learn your quarry and other hunters habits, you can score. I have been in deer each time there. The bigs are gone ( I shot one of them hehe). A big problem with state land is the loss of button bucks. They are vulnerable this time of year.
  11. Nice! Jeremy, I will be down on your old stomping ground near Ellicottville tomorrow. I love tracking season in ski country.
  12. Yep. Deer have been daytime feeding in the hickory nuts.
  13. For what ever reason I have chosen to be super selective this year. I have passed on three nice bucks so far and it is eating at me. Bucks are waiting for the next estrous cycle and have resorted to moving only after the sun is down. Does have relaxed again as they are not being chased. The next reshuffle will occur when appreciable snowfall will knock down the goldenrod and condense deer into their winter ranges in the timber. Sleep in and stay sane and don’t bother hunting the mornings unless your group does deer drives or a cold front is approaching. The grind will continue the final week of the season. I am looking forward to a weekend of derby fishing for walleye then a week off to hit the second estrous cycle.
  14. Great buck! You northern county boys are killing me with jealousy on the quality of bucks you lay down every year.
  15. There are only special regulations for Newfs so you should be fine.
  16. That is coach McDermot looking for a new offensive coordinator.
  17. Saw one buck today. The good news is I saw a 25 bird flock of turkeys that lived under my stand for 15 minutes. I have awesome footage on my phone to relive the sounds of turkeys. I haven’t hunted turkeys in ten years due to low numbers so good to see them in that capacity

Derby fished today out of Marblehead. I booked with Ross Robertson’s outfit after my crew all backed out to deer hunt. I didn’t think we could make it happen due to 30 mph winds last night and 15-25 mph winds today but I learned how the bass islands really block waves from building and allow for fishing on the lee side on normal blow days. The water color was bad but the fishfinder was packed with hooks. First fish was 6.75 lbs which we released. The rest of the limit were 4 lb males which will find a grease bath one day. Nice change of pace from deer hunting. Going to try to make one more trip down before the derbies end.
  19. I am sorry to say I witnessed a buck and doe in lockdown breeding in a nearby thicket. I have seen movement slow considerably from Saturday to today. I have been out for all day sits. Going fishing tomorrow. I am going to need a vacation from my week off.
