  1. What kind of plastic are u guys referring to? I myself have caught them on small Mr. Twisters and the 3inch sinkos but have yet to try them on Seneca. I plan on using a spinner rig with float beads #6 bait holder hooks on a 30inch 4lb fluorocarbon with a swivel and Texas rig slide sinker tipped with emerald shiners! This is experimental homemade rig please let me know what you think!!!!!!!!

My rigs are similar to these northland rigs!! ///Single hooks and smaller blades

I might be putting a little to much thought in to this after all they are just perch!!!! but I want to be as proficient as possible and land some slobs

  2. I drove 4hrs down to Hamburg PA last weekend it was a huge disappointment DO NOT expect to find a big selection of Great Lakes tackle at this store…… I think dicks has a better selection of spoons, rigger eqip, stickbaits and what they did have on display they did not have in stock such as the three things I went down their for (2 diawa SL17lc, bunk guides for my boat trailer, Lowrance LCX ) but they assured me that they can order these items for me!!! I could have done that from my house!! If you are looking for stripe bass fishing equipment they have ten isles full of lures but salmon and trout forget about it!!!!!!!

They have a amazing store filled with just about every dead animal you could think of and some awesome fish tanks but if you looking to find a wide selection of tackle go to Basspro!!

“: I do not work for basspro I am just a disappointed customer and these are my opinionsâ€

  3. Well I guess its true then I have heard the only way to find the perch is to bring 12X binoculars find a boat that’s catching fish and tie off to their bow. But I am not one of them guys so I guess ill figure it out The old fashion way by trial and error

  4. Thinking about getting the boat out early this year and going after some of those Jumbo perch on Seneca for the first time I could really use some tips!! I am thinking glass factory bay will be my main focus because I have heard so much about it and it is the closest for me! So if you can enlighten me on what depth and what bait it will be vary appreciated and probably save me hours of searching.

  5. My first trip down to Cooperstown it was a 3hr dive for me and my cousin we left the house at 3am to get there for the early morning bite we started at Canadarago and fished until noon we ice some nice perch and decided we wanted to try are luck jigging for lake trout down the road at Otsego lake we stopped at the local bait shop on the way. The owner asked where we were from we told him and he told us that we must be crazy of course we have heard that already from are girlfriends!! So we purchased shiners to tip are jigs with and set out for lakers soon after we got set up in 200FOW I hooked up with a nice eating size laker about 24in we caught 2 more 4-5pounders before it was time to pack it up and head back west on the I90!! after getting home at 9:00pm I had to ask myself was it worth it? Most definitely

  6. Wow good pics billy!!! I cant be Believe they changed the jr thunder stick its one of my favs luckily I have a assortment of the old style although the are beaten and batted I replace the hooks and run them!!!! I refuse to buy the new style because of my disappointment why change something that worked so great. I have found the old style at mom and pop tackle shops that have left over inventory and I do not hesitate to buy them!!

  7. I am making the 4hr trip down to cabelas in PA this weekend to blow my income tax money on fishing tackle!!!!! I usually run JR thunder sticks in bl/siv ,yo zuris bl/pr, and of course jointed raps. As far as spoons go I like to run nk28 in frg, bl/pr, wt, Stingers, quick silvers, I have done good with this spread but maybe I am missing out on some hot lures that I should have in my arsenal? Any info would be appreciated

  8. I just started fishing a couple of years ago out of bradocs mostly. hows the summer kings from the big bay? I looked at the topo of the lake and saw it gets a little deeper north east of there. I know most guys fish just west of bradocs Just curious about the other bay.

I have not had a ton of luck with the kings in the spring I hit the occasional king in front of Russell station and only one off of Shipbuilders in 10-20-FOW but other than that mostly browns out in front of Irondequoit!!!! But don’t take my word for it I am just a weekend warrior hopefully you can get a reply from one of the I-Bay pros.

  9. Thanks Ray

As far as the RED it is a fluorocarbon so it is invisible under water the red just makes it easer to see out of water on the boards? I knew I would catch flack on the 10lb but theirs a reason: I fish Hemlock, Canidice, and Conesus where small line diameter can make the difference between fish in the boat and fish on the finder. I fish these lake 90% of my time but I try to get up on the big pond as much as possible weather permitting w/a 16ft boat! Ill tell you what it sure is fun hookin up with 25lb king on light action!!!! as far as the release!!!! they don’t flip around as much in the cooler when their tired out.

  10. Take five 10in perch remove the fillet from each side, rinse and dab dry, dip fillet in egg batter and roll in seasoned bread crumbs, place in frying pan with about ¼ inch of preheated vegetable oil , cook each side for 2min, remove from pan serve with cocktail sauce and a beer !!!!!!!!!!!!
