  1. I have used the palomar knot for more than 50 years all over the world with no problems at all. I recommend you wet the line with water prior to tying the knot. The knot will pull down easier and result in a stronger knot. When running stick baits, use a good quality cross lock snap ( roscoes are good) to match the line weight you are using. The stick baits swim better than when they are direct tied .

  2. I have an older( american made ) Penn 320 GTI used not abused. Very smooth, smooth drag. Has older style plastic torpedo handle knob. Includes Reel, original box, owners manual and schematic, and tube of grease. Asking $ 55.00 plus shipping. I will be at the LOTSA market place on Sunday.

You can contact me here or call me at 814-432-7072, or you can call me on my cell phone Sunday 814-428-1948.post-141077-0-78425100-1422055399_thumb.jpg

  3. I tie all my flies with 2 4/0 octopus hooks, works great, no treble hook cut offs . Here is a test to try with fluoro vs mono . Take equal pound test mono and fluoro, Use a 3 foot piece of each. Then saw the line over a square table edge count how many saws it takes to cause the line to abrade to failure then you decide which is best

  4. I tried to take apart my 320 to clean and check out drag washers. I dropped the reel on the table during disassembly and it came apart. I have tried to put it back together with no luck. Does anyone know anyone that can put my reel back together and clean and change out the drag washers for a reasonable price. This a 20 year old reel and it has been used a lot, it has never given me any problems. Thanks Terry

  5. I own several Penn 310 reelks some of them are 20 years old they are very reliable with great draga. However last year I purchased 2 new 310s they are now made in Japan. the clickers on both of these reels failed shortly after I put them in service. I returned them to Penn for warranty work , they retuned the rels with new clickers installed. The new clickers failed as fast asthe original ones. Now for my question does anyone else know of this problem and if anyone is out there replacing or modifiding the reels so that the clickers are as good as the old 310s ?

  6. I own several penn 310's I think they are the best all around reel for salmon. However, last year I purchased 2 new 310's which are now made in Japan. The clickers on both of these reels failed very shortly after placing them in use, I returned them to Penn for warranty work. They sent the reels back with new clickers installed. They both failed again. Is anyone else having this problem. I hve 20 year old 310's that just keep on going and going. Does anyone know if anyone out there is repairing /upgrading these clicker to be as good as the old ones.
