  1. Due to the Winter Storm and dangerous road conditions, tonights MI meeting is being postponed.

The make up date is TBA, however we are targeting next Monday the 25th with Monday Feb 1st in reserve. We will post an update here once availability is confirmed with the Moose Lodge.

    Apologies for the short notice

(Edit: this is for today, Monday jan 18th, not the 19th as noted in the subject line)

  2. As one of the founding officers of MI69, i applaud your initiative, though im not convinced that it has to be either/or wrt MI. We've wrestled with the distance issue ourselves and have tried and/or discussed a number of ideas to address the issue - from streaming our meetings online to having held some meetings in places like Chaut and Clayton, to appointing regional representatives to advocate for local areas. This last one is in place, and the only thing we've been lacking is more people like Trevor and Justin who want to step up and become involved. We're more than willing to work with you guys...we could appoint someone as the official regional rep and you could hold local meetings under the 69 umbrella to feed those issues back and be the local on-the-ground point of contact. And with interest and membership outside rochester we can certainly push to make a 'virtual' statewide meeting a reality.

if you'd like to try to see if we can figure something out that would focus and combine our powers to make beneficial changes, rather than splintering it, let me know!

  3. You can take a picture of a fish during catch and release season, but not during closed season.

Being that during closed season, you are not supposed to remove fish from water and release it with as little stress as possible and out of the water as little time as possible (if it has to be removed at unhook).

During C+R season you can target the species and take a pic

  4. Im with muskiedreams on this one. Usually leave em two-finger pull tight- easily pull out line with two fingers and thumb on the line. Basically just tight enough that they dont move under wave action on the boat.

Lost way more on Chautauqua one trip this year than typical, and only difference was that they were tightened down pretty good. I had attributed it to that.

  5. Key isnt how to avoid weeds but to prevent them from fouling the lure...keep rod tips in the water, use large swivels at the leader to mainline connection and leave an inch or two of the tag end on at that swivel to catch weeds that otherwise slide down to the lure. That will help, but you're right...this isnt like trolling the big lakes, you gotta check em often until you learn how the rod 'thumps' from the lure: when that stops or changes, time to clear weeds.

  6. Your high RPM issue sounds similar to one i had on my merc optimax which isnt al that different from the EFIs. Intermittent issue with rpms dropping and coming back up, sometimes repeatedly and rapidly to the point it stalled out. Took 3 dealers to figure it out...turns out it was the high pressure fuel pump, which would only fail in high heat/load conditions. They had to run it *under load* in the tank to reproduce it.
