  1. Decided to hit the lake for a few hours this morning. Glad I did. Had a decent laker on early, then a smaller landlocked. All of a sudden my two rigger rods tangle together. Weird. I start hand lining one in to see if its tangled on something, and notice theres something on it. By this point I'm too far in handling to stop. All of a sudden the line gets real tight and I realize I am fighting the biggest brown yet, by hand. When all was said and done, theres stuff thrown everywhere in the boat, my coffee spilled all over the floor, and theres a 9 lb brown in the cooler. What a crazy morning. Oh, and I'm fishing solo. 9 lbs according to my scale in the boat. 30ft of water, jointed rapala

  2. How about your camp Slamer any word on when it can open up? Mine on the other side was last Friday with a lot of new temporary rules...but with travel restrictions here and NY state I'm not opening yet....stay safe

Ed - looks like we’ll be opening May 1st, hope to see you on the lake soon!

  3. So with the new governor’s non-essential ruling on golf courses, marinas, and launches - have any of the self-serve launches (Sampson, Geneva, The Glen, & Lodi) been able to remain open?

Saw this on FB - wondered if it applies to any of the launches on Seneca or Cayuga

  4. Many thanks to Hank @ L&M for installing some  electronic upgrades this month.  This morning launched from Taughannock for the first time out with the new toys.  Throttle control for pinpoint speed control?? Awesome!! Autopilot so the boat doesn't do donuts while fighting a fish??  Incredible!!  Didn't use the Subtroll today, but stay tuned!!

Pretty solid South wind early so went North on the West side to start, then angled across the lake and finished running South on the East side.  Lake trout are scattered everywhere so had a steady pick of fish from 30-110 down in 80-400fow off spoon and sliding cheaters on the downriggers.  Dypsey carrying a fly took 1 fish in 100 fow and another in the middle of the lake.  All the trout were similar in size to the ones in the photo with half a dozen going back in the lake to fight another day.  Spent the last hour trying some stickbaits and spoons in shallower water, 40-60 deep, wasn't quite ready to get in real tight.  Just the one salmon ended up grabbing a spoon  straight across from the launch so headed in with tonight's dinner and a batch of fillets for the smoker tomorrow.
With better control of the steering I look forward to trying someIMG_20200223_125936.thumb.jpg.ef70dfbad5b7981b045b11bb3a98287a.jpg shallow trolls soon!!

Been thinking about autopilot for mine - what system did you go with?

  5. Seems like things are looking up! Managed to catch some nice fish the last 3 trips out. Only trolled an hour today and boated two nice lakers (returned unharmed) with no lamprey marks and decided to keep this 5lb bow for dinner.

  6. Last couple days ran some mid week charters and limited out both days...but yesterday was a 21 fish adventure including a Grand Slam of Rainbows, a Brown, a few salmon and of course lakers by the dozen. We had the limit on Friday by 1030 but kept fishing and shaking for fun and ended the day with a just legal brown to round out the slam for the day. Posted some of the pics...these guys had some tired arms the salmon jumped five times on the way in, the nice rainbow tried to charge the boat going under the swim step and we had some 7-8 pound lakers pulling drag, a lot of drag which is not that common IMG_2777.thumb.JPG.669326f14ff355a66113ef1a19db7c7d.JPGIMG_2755.thumb.JPG.bf94e4eea11c10ec257d561c4f417169.JPGIMG_2770.thumb.JPG.ca18dee052ef72b650c4276104e8fa9a.JPGIMG_2765.thumb.JPG.757027f341f9de7908af377e07eaf2a7.JPGIMG_0156.thumb.JPG.179677c76fb58e7cb72f524328d5ffc2.JPG
