  1. starcraft-islander-221-io-39668070082857694949686855664568x.jpgThere are attachments in the market (E-bay) that can be bolted onto any of these boats. They stick out about 2 feet and you would have to strengthen the transom to support these. The last Starcraft Islanders were 22 footers with the attachment which turned them into 24 footers. They are available for just main engine and also for main and kicker. You can buy them online. The overall weight of the boat would not differ much since you would remove the I/O and the the engine which together weigh about 700 pounds. The center of gravity changes a lot and I doubt that towing long distance would be an option. The good thing is that you will no longer have a dog house which gives you a lot of extra room in the back of the boat. The attachments are aluminum .

  2. This conflict between native Americans exercising their treaty rights and local law enforcement or DEC enforcement repeats itself over and over again. Some Native Americans have a huge chip on their shoulder and they can be quite ornery, leading to unnecessary conflicts. It is beyond me what this has to with democrats or republicans.

As for one "leader" or taking the law in one's own hands. Please let me remind you that you are getting riled up about a dispute between a policeman and a man lawfully exercising his freedom rights.

Switches to turn things on/off, as well as fuses should always be on the hot side of the unit being turned on/off.  i.e. red.  (If I read your question correctly)

    Sorry for the misunderstanding.

You did read correctly , but I did not write correctly.

This module has a hot (red) unswitched and a ground (black) wire and in addition it has a red wire that is supposed to go to a switched connection. if I don't connect that second wire to a hot source, the module does not work. This second red wire should be attached to a switched source .Once the switched source is turned off the module stops working and is prevented from draining the battery. I should connect it to a switched source on the kicker, but I don't know know if it even has its own switched setup or if turning the key to stop the engine simply grounds the ignition

  4. I installed this little servo on a tohatsu 9.8 kicker, which is a simple procedure. It works well and allows me to go fishing by myself and keep a steady trolling speed every time I step away from the steering wheel and speed controls. I am left with one problem and that is the wire that I am supposed to hook onto a switched power source. It is to prevent battery drainage and the remote module will not work unless that wire provides 12 volts. Connecting it to my main engine switched system makes no sense because I turn of that engine when I troll on my kicker. So I am supposed to either just connect it to the positive on the battery or ,if there is one, a switched source on the kicker. The kicker has a side mounted remote control with a keyed switch to start the engine . My question is what (color) wire should I connect this wire from the module to so it has a switched source from the kicker. Your help is greatly appreciated,

    Cornelis.

  5. The probable best chance for Atlantics to survive in our tribs is by creating a passage way into the higher regions of the Oswego river. It goes all the way to Seneca and Cayuga lake , but because of  al sorts of barriers ,created a long time ago ago for reasons that are no longer valid, this large and often deep river and creek system is effectively rendered useless as a potential natural reproduction opportunity. The Canal is a nice historical sight and it is great for the boats, specially because the maintenance and lock expenses are paid for with throughway authority money and not the users of the canal.

But the entire region from Oswego all the way down to the Finger Lakes could gain a lot if Atlantic Salmon could enter and leave that area through open or properly channeled access possibilities.

This would probably give the entire atlantic salmon project a better chance to succeed

A few weeks ago I started my 35 Merc the first time since last year  with the muffs . It wasn't peeing water and then started just a little .

I kind of push on the hole and moved the rubber around . I pulled about a 1" piece of some gummy substance out which I figured was bug residue . Strong steam after that and I just used it hard for 2 days .

Maybe your old merc had a prostate problem

  7. The one thing that most people tend to forget is the screen for the water inlet to the pump.

If the motor is left in the water for longer periods of time, they tend to get clogged with zebra mussel and it takes a while for the impeller to pump up barely enough water. This also causes overheating and faster deterioration of the impeller. so make sure that your lower unit water inlet is clean.

  8. We fished out of Oswego on Sunday. It was a very different lake. Where only a few days ago the thermocline was at over a hundred feet down, now it was at 30 to 50 feet down . At over 400 feet  the thermocline started a waving pattern of between 70 and a hundred feet down. We did see see some bait in 400 feet at around 50 to 80 down. Not a good day!

We ended up with one steelie and 3 salmon and they were in the 5 to 10 pound range.

  9. There is another  legal way. You will have to go to to a NY DMV office and explain your situation. They will guide you on your next steps.

In the end you will have to send all your paperwork to the Albany DMV office, where it will be decided if you made every reasonable effort to contact the previous owner ,like sending two registered letters that are returned because they could not be delivered. You may have to be a bit creative in your answers to the questionnaire, but usually you end up with a title and the boat will yours in your name.

    good luck.

I’ve been using two ratchet straps and it doesn’t seem to bounce around at all. You shouldn’t need to drain the oil to take the kicker off as long as you lay it down on the correct side?

The "correct side" is a tricky thing seeing that vertical is the ideal side
