  1. Out West on the big Lake we can only use Siwash , most guys run the 4/0 , 5/0 and some will go bigger to a 6 or 7. Of course these are all Salt Water hooks for this big lake.

Might think about the size of the siwash hooks your using

  2. Today is the day my wife and I will visit my Grandfather, Dad, three uncles and our son on a piece of ground the government set a side for it's heroes.

As I sit in the living room of our home that's decorated with photographs, medals my son wore on his chest so proudly once, a flag that was folded with purpose by the Marines that carried my son to his final resting place.

The true meaning of Memorial day came to me with a great sadness , that the biggest percent of Americans are going on with their everyday life, with out a clue of who or what has given them there freedom. They just know that it is a 3 day weekend and time to have fun.

The local television station and paper ask how are you going to celebrate Memorial day weekend ?

My God what is there to Celebrate about the death of so many young men and woman. Memorial day is just that, a day for America to mourn for those that made the allotment sacrifice.

Please take a minute of your time and give thanks to those that made the greatest sacrificed, not just for America but free people all over the world.

  3. Being a West Coast salt water guy, sorry to say there is really no structure to speak of holding Kings. Is what they do ( the Kings ) is what we call laying in the mud.

They head to bottom and hold, heck you will even see there bellies rubbed red/pink from laying in the bottom. Most of these fish you will not even see on most fishfinders like a Lowerance or Humminbird, But those with a Furuno will have no problems seeing these fish down 320' to 450' in the mud.

Some of our biggest Fish all come from mooching and for Kings in the mud is about the only way your going to get them up.

What I have noticed over the years is different places have different methods of fishing and have their heads wrapped around it's the only way. You get guys in Washington that will not try the way the guys in Calif fish and the guys in Oregon do the same.

Try and get a west coast guy to pull a steel line diver, Copper line rods or even use down riggers, most will look at you like your have just used some great drugs.

Best advise I could give anyone, is KEEP an open mind when it comes to fishing. Give it a try and you just might be weighting in a state record fish.

Couple of things you should know about living in Bay area.

You need to learn how to be a tree huger there are proper ways of doing this.

You will have to learn how to give your money to those who don't want to work

Medical pot is ok, just be sure to get a card from the state

You will have to learn how to drive in the left lane at all times

you will have to learn how to Kokanee fish, no copper line, no divers, no rods with over 6 LB line

Your kids will be required to speak Spanish with in a year, but you just get to push #2 on the phone

man your going to love the bay area :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

If your dragging a boat all the way out here, be sure to make sure there is no water in your bilge pump, engine, live wells or any place the will hold a drop of water when coming in to the state . They will look under your trailer for zebra and other mussels.

You have my number, this is what we will be fishing out of. We can sign up for the Shasta Lake 2 day Trout derby in Oct. The Sacramento River will be on fire with Ocean Run Kings heading up river to spawn. It's a whole different fishery than your use to out here.

Then there is my trips up to Oregon for 20Lb plus lakers and 10Lb plus browns. Coffee is always on

  7. Sorry guys I am sure this has been asked a couple dozen times. I checked the search and could not find the answer.

I am looking for 400' to 500' of 150Lb coated down rigger cable for my Depth Raider. There is no place on the west coast to get it, the tackle store people look at you like your stupid or your asking to date their sister.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  8. Your not boring us Chad but you are confusing Ray K and Stan. When you tell Ray there "servers" he thinks there's a waitress somewhere :o and then you mention it's gonna be moved to Virgina and Stan probably thinks he's gonna have to move there now to be able to view the site

    :P:P:P

And thanks for keeping us "up to speed" both literally and figuratively :yes:

    Tom

You mean I can tell the wife she can stop packing, we are no moving..:rofl:
