I took my kayak to Otisco today. I haven’t been there since the new launch opened. I was surprised to see it was still open and being used. they did a nice job on this one. Still over two feet of water at end of the dock.

We had fun in the tourney. Luckily I brought someone who could catch a fish because I didn’t get one on Saturday. Here’s our fish.

We can’t have the usual lure raffle without a gathering so I’m doing one on my own. To enter text a pic of a fish with the Waneta 2020 button showing to 315 879 8787. Any fish will do. I fished there today. Water temp was 64 at 2 pm when I left. No floating weeds to speak of. Water is low. I knocked bottom in the channel coming in. My fault for not being trimmed up enough but be cautious. My boat is 18’6”. I saw a good size bow rider having a tough time in the channel. They got halfway and turned around. I didn’t catch anything or even see one.

I have a new to me 2006 9.9 mercury 4 stroke. I took off the carb and cleaned it out tonight and noticed the primer bulb has no hose on it.there is nowhere on the carb to attach one to. The starting instructions on the motor say to prime it when cold so I’m confused. It runs fine but has been hard to start when cold. Any info?

My hook 2 did that all last season. Was brand new. Updated software on line as per Lowrance,hard boot,resets,blah blah blah. Sent it back for service and it seems ok now.

I would fish Waneta since it’s so close. I would try to avoid weekends. Cast around weeds long enough and you’ll get one sooner or later. They will hit anything when they are hungry. A black bucktail or spinner bait with nickel blades is a good start.

The DEC doesn’t have the resources to adequately enforce anything. But if you report something they will look into it. I called about a guy shooting geese with a rifle on the canal in June. Two days later they went to his house and talked to him about it. Wasn’t caught or fined but I bet he quit doing it. And the officer called me after the visit and told me how it went. That’s about the best we can do. There will always be jerks who don’t care about seasons or minimum lengths or creel limits. Probably the same people that bought all the toilet paper in March. I agree. Using that launch in late fall is treacherous to say the least

It’s easy enough with a helper. Alone is another story especially if the wind kicks up. I’ve done it a few times. You might have to get wet getting it out. Best fishing of the year makes it worth it though.
