  1. I have an Okuma catalina 45 for years that I used for my 10 color lead core set up. My clicker seems to be stuck. I can use the reel but would like to get it fixed. Is there anyone on Lake O that can fix it, or should I send to to Tuna Tom that I have heard about on here. Also I spoke to Okuma last year about it but they said it would most likely be upgraded with some money to make up the difference for a cost of a new one. Please me know what my what you think would be the best way to go here. Thanks.post-142888-14290581802817_thumb.jpg

  2. I'm looking to add another sonar to my boat. This one would be my secondary unit that is put on the flybridge. Have been a humminbird guy for the past 15 years and never had issues but being this boat has a raymarine below I figured I'd stay with that brand. It seems really easy to use , affordable and looks to be a solid unit based on the videos I saw of it on you tube. Just wondering if anyone has one here in the LOU and looking for their personal feedback and experience with them.

  3. There is a raymarine C80 down below with GPS and an old 80s Raymarine sonar for the 80s down below. The old sonar works but would rather integrate the sonar into the C80 that was just put in their 2 years ago. I know I'll probably need another transducer and possibly a sonar. I did the research on what's needed to get the lower units up to speed. But not sure about the flybridge. Always had good luck with humminbird but say Raymarine sells a cheap sonar GPS. If they are the same brand , is there a way to split the signal or do I have to have 2 transducers one for the fly bridge and another for the drivers seat down below?

  4. It looks like I am very close to buying a boat with a fly bridge. The boat has auto pilot , kicker motor and of course sonar and GPS. I was wondering how I get these items upstairs in the fly bridge? I know the throttle controls work up stairs but not sure if there is a signal splitter for the sonar or a way to control the throttle on the kicker as well so I can maintain my down speed etc that I wont have visibility to when up top. Let me know what you guys have done in the past. I cant afford to buy two of everything. Thanks.

  5. I've been lucky with running 12lbs for the past 7 years with those old mag 10s. I saw the ones bikini bottom is selling and they are nice. Just doesn't say if shipping is included with price. Do you happen to know if it is or not?

  6. I have old mag 10s and have run 12Lb cannon ball weights since I've had the boat. I lost 2 weights last year and was thinking about replacing them with the fish weights thinking they might track better. Is there any pros or cons to the fish weights over the balls?

  7. Tight to the ball in the morning and as the sun gets higher my distance from the ball gets farther. I start at with one at 5 and the other at 10'and let the fish dictate which they like better. Closer to the ball the faster the actions usually and the father back it's running a little slower. I usually won't go past 20'. If using spoons in shallower for browns I'll go back as far as 100' some times in the high sun. That can be troublesome on the turns as the can flutter to the bottom drag up mussel shells.

  8. Once the fleas show and they are starting to now. You won't be able to run the light line. I use straight 30 lb mono come July and Aug. I run 20lb flea flicker in May and June as a precaution in case the water is unusually warm and the fleas arrive early. It seems that when the water warms up the fleas usually come along with it. You can tie a lighter section of leader to your spoon to give it better action. If I only had my heavier rods on board I'll do that when we move in for browns if the salmon aren't in the mood to play otherwise I keep 30lb mono straight to my swivel. Good luck to you.

  9. I myself am from NEPA as will and have been fishing out of Mexico the past 6 or 7 years. Great fishing. I try and get up at least 2 or 3 weekends a month from May until Oct. I can make it in just under 3 hours without and construction and traffic. I have a camper at Bears Sleepy hollow which is down the roads a few miles and like it . My boat is at Mikes marina which is just before Salmon country. They have always treated me well. I have heard a lot good about the salmon country campground and they have good group of people there. I met some of them a few years ago with a friend of mine who used to stay they. I hear them on the radio a lot helping one a other out which is cool. This website as well is a good way to build friendships and network to fall back on if the fishing gets tough. Good luck with your decision but don't think you can go wrong with fishing out of Mexico and the LSR.

  10. I received my pro staff package from pro king the other day and it contained some new painted glow spoons that they will be featuring in the line up. I charged them up and they glow real nice. They should be real productive under the right conditions. They are painted on their standard sized spoon blank and will be available to the public in the near future. I'm looking forward to trying them out on the lake this season and reporting the results. post-142888-14000303564007_thumb.jpg

  11. I am not sure on the age of these spoons but the company did change hands a few years back and those couple of spoons to the right of the squid are in question They may have been discontinued. The spoon shape does seem to be the same though. The ones on the bottom right also. Check out their website www.prokingspoons.com for there current selection. I run primarily a pro king program and includes a lot of mag spoons both taped and painted. The finishes are extremely durable and don't flake off or fall apart after a few fish. They also came out with a line of flashers and flies last year which also produced a lot of fish for us as well. To answer your question on the finishes they put holographic tape on the back side of their standard sized spoons like what you have in the picture. I have caught fish with and without the tape on them. If you remove the tape is does have a polished surface but the tape dows make the spoon a little flashier than a regular polished cup spoon IMO. When you step up to the mag size or mag polished series you will just have the polish cup on the backside no holographic tape added. To be honest with you last season I noticed that the mag sized spoons far out produced the standard sized I guess mainly due to the bait the fish were eating. Either size you can't go wrong . Good luck with your prokings this season. They are a proven performer.

  12. I was considering maybe getting a new canvas top for it next year and it's not like I really need to see to clearly out of the side curtains . Thanks again for the advice. I'm looking forward to cleaning her and and getting it in the water for the season.

  13. I'll be getting ready to put my boat in for the season but prior to that I usually wash and wax her with a buffer etc. The boat's maroon and is easily oxidized and ends up looking almost pink by the time I pull her at the end if the season. I'm looking in the Overton's catalog and see a few different wash and wax liquids. They aren't cheap but wondering if they are worth just using that instead of the two step process like I usually do. Has anyone used these before with good results? Also what do you use to get you plastic windows clean . My boat is 27 years old and they may very will be the original windows so I'm not looking for miracles, just trying to take some of that haze out of them. As always your feedback is appreciated.
