  1. HOLY SMOKES!

But he must have been just about out of energy cuz after eating him, I had a to take a nap! :P

If I am every lucky enough to catch another I will get the extra info ya need. Thank you very much for responding Glenn!

  2. WOW. Tagged this year!  Fish was caught roughly one mile North of Hugh's marina or NNE of Pultneyville NY. 25 feet down over 120 feet of water on a  orange/silver NK28. I did not weight the fish at time. We caught 6 more steelies in the general area.

It was 1st fish we caught on the day and rainbow being one of my favorite fish to eat, (and it was perfect eating size)I through him in the cooler.  I still have the tag and will return it if ya want.  Let me know if there is any other info ya need.

  3. Hey Guys!

Caught a rainbow off Hugh's with a Orange tag. Not sure who's tag it is. One side has MEA 0126. Other side has 905-640-6204.

I know Canada has MNR (ministry of natural resources) I would like ta tell whoevers fish that was that we took it to dinner.

    Thanks for any help!

  4. Hi all

I own a seanymph with an mid 70's evenrude. During the season last year I noticed that when i go to engage the the drive, gears in the control tend to grind a bit an not want to engage. some times not wanting to engage at all. This is not in the engine but at the side mounted shifter/throttle. Is there a way to tighten up the clutch?

    Thank you for any help!

  5. I think your right about getting on ice late Dec. (fingers crossed) ;)

Looking at the latest forecast, I am figuring on traveling ta Eel bay soon.

I am more concerned about lake levels right now. Eel bay at best is only 6' deep. Fish should still be there but what about Sandy pond, Braddock or any other shallow bay. We may have ta look for fish in other places.

Check your gear! I think your going ta need it soon!

  6. Hey Panfisher!

Most all the gills were redeared sunfish. There may have been a "seed" or two mixed in. I am one of them dumba$$'s that just calls them all "gills". But I do remember seeing the redspot on the "blue" gill on most all the ones I cleaned.

As far as Ice fishing goes, There will be no season again this year. I can tell. Last year I purchased a brand new Otter flipover. And then waited for the ice. And waited and waited.... This year, I bought a Fishscout camera and now I wait....

I think I will skip winterizing the boat!

    Good Luck!

  7. Launched at the northend Monday afternoon with my brother. Headed down the east side, just across from Butler road. Anchored the boat in 13 FoW and for the next 2 hours we pounded the perch and gills. Perch were average, about 8-9 inches. Lots of the gills were bigger. Through a bunch back but kept 30.

Just used a plain hook and some wally-world worms (say that 3 times fast! lol) Light tackle and tons of fun!

Get out if ya can! The leaves are at peak!

  8. Nice Report ,Reel intense!

I was outta Hugh's that same morning. I just installed a Moor this year and it really came in handy yesterday! I could not believe how fast I needed to troll when headed west. I don't have a GPS yet but my lowrance graph said I was doing 4.10 mph just ta do 2.25 a hundred feet below! Felt like I was racing. For a few moment I was sure if i should believe my gauges. Then the Rods started popping! Without the probe, I would have never trolled that fast. Make sure ya get one on your wishlist!

I too noticed the fishing got hotter as the morning wore on.

Ended up 6 for 12. biggest was 18.8 king on a slider.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

Hell of a day for me outta Hugh's. Took most of the kings 1st light. Biggest in the teens I guess. Others were around 5. (forgot my scale on my buddies boat) That big salmon managed to get the slider's hook in to the dipsy's wire strandes. By the time he was done with it, it looked like a wad of steelwool.

The kings disappeared after sun up but the steelies wanted to play. Seamed to me they wantted only smaller lures with orange in 'em. Once I swithed to that program it was GAME ON!

Anytime I was able to sit down it was because my speed had slowed down. On the surface it felt like I was racing around but that is what they wanted. My new Moor paid for itself taday.

  10. Nice Report, KJB!

I was at the Branchport end. Launched out of the park. 6am till 10:30am. Went 8 for 8. However I didn't need ta go so deep. Down 50 ta 60 feet. Ran 2 coppers and a rigger. They seam ta want anything that glowed. All of the bites came before 9am. I also agree with the size this year.(I thought I was imagining it) They all seam to be running slightly bigger.

    What a beautiful day!

  11. Sorry Reel. I shouldn't read so fast. I thought ya just wanted ta know what the limits are. I am punishing myself by wading thru the DEC web site. And punishment is right

    I found this:

    http://www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/79970.html

I did see where the comment for these changes just ended on April 2nd.

But, when you read it is says:

Existing paragraph 10.3©(2) IS amended to read as follows:

All Finger Lakes except for Cayuga Lake, Otisco Lake, Owasco Lake and Skaneateles Lake.

Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Lake trout, Landlocked salmon

    All year

    15"

5 in combination. Catch shall include no more than 1 rainbow trout or 3 Landlocked salmon.

Now I am confused, IS it changed or isn't it? Think I may give a call to the DEC office Monday to find out.
